I definitely don’t consider myself an expert on marriage, but by virtue of being a semi-expert on celebrity marriages — with an emphasis in “rumors surrounding the cause of their demise” — I have learned some valuable lessons about matrimony. For example, part of figuring out your compatibility in the long-term with your potential spouse requires asking a few simple but crucial questions. Questions these seven celeb brides failed to ask. Don’t make the same mistake!
Well, the love story of Kim Kardashian and, uh, that one guy whose name we barely bothered to remember, has come to a conclusion. Kardashian is filing for divorce, allegedly because her basketball playing husband, Kris Humphries, wanted to live in Minnesota, while she, of course, cannot imagine leaving the paparazzi-filled streets of Hollywood. Kardashian released a statement, saying:
After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.
Indeed, it probably wasn’t in the plan to end their marriage quite this soon, but Kim luckily has nearly $18 million in crisp dollar bills she made off the wedding to mop up her tears. (Unless, of course, she actually decides to follow any of our suggestions and donates her bounty to a good cause.)
Married for only 72 days, Kim’s (second!) marriage joins a long line of short celeb marriages. Keep clicking to see some of the other speedy celebrity marriages that met an early demise.

Upon discovering that Kim Kardashian’s 72 day marriage to Kris Humphries was ending, our first concern was the incredible fortune they amassed during their brief union . There’s the $17.9 million they raked in for their televised, fairy tale extravaganza, the $2.5 million People allegedly shilled out for exclusive photo rights, and, of course, their Gearys Beverly Hills registry, which included a $7,850 vase and a $730 ice bucket, to name a few of the ridiculous items. We don’t know the exact dollar amount they made off with … but it was a lot. (And apparently Kim has sold her divorce story to People for an as yet undisclosed sum!) After the jump, our suggestions for what the couple should do with their spoils. We’re sure their lawyers will disagree. Keep reading »
UPDATE: Ryan Seacrest, who is a producer on “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” (conveeeeeeniently), confirms that Kim is filing for divorce and will be giving him a statement shortly.
In a move that should come as a surprise to no one, Kim Kardashian is allegedly filing for divorce from her husband Kris Humphries — after only 72 days of marriage. Kim and Kris, whose alliterative names should have surely kept them together, seem to have lost their burgeoning passion and were spotted fighting over the weekend. Kim has already allegedly hired a new PR person to handle the flak.
So, what could have torn these two lovebirds apart? Was it the height difference? Or was it the rumor that Kris wasn’t actually Kim’s first choice to play her husband/love interest/mancessory on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”? It’s a sad day when a loveless $10 million wedding can’t even keep a faux couple together. [TMZ]
Now this is majorly awkies. A week after Kris Humphries tied the knot with Kim Kardashian, he ended up a flight from Los Angeles to New Orleans on Sunday with none other than Ray J, Kim’s ex. More specifically, the ex with whom she recorded the sex tape which made her famous and that an anonymous bidder purchased this week so that it would no longer be available online. As Page Six reports, the two guys ended up across the aisle from each other in first class. After a few minutes of silence, Kris moved to another seat. A few minutes later, Ray J walked up to him and congratulated him on his recent nuptials.
After the jump, we imagine how this conversation went. Keep reading »
