Style Stealer: The Stars Of “Bachelorette”

Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan and Rebel Wilson star in the upcoming dark (very dark!) comedy “Bachelorette,” and this week the three made the rounds at the Sundance Film Festival promoting the film. We are so excited to see this movie — especially since catching Rebel Wilson’s hilarious turn as one half of a creepy brother/sister roommate duo in “Bridesmaids.” In “Bachelorette,” Wilson plays a woman getting married whose three bridesmaids — played by Dunst, Caplan and Isla Fisher — plot against her. Thankfully, it seems that Wilson and her co-stars get along much better off screen. We love the casual looks they’re sporting at Sundance, and thought we’d try stealing their looks. Kirsten Dunst Once Cut Her Hair Short For A Dude

“The last time I cut my hair short, my boyfriend at the time was like, ‘You look so much better with short hair.’ So I cut it off. I know, I know, so stupid! My girlfriend thinks he just didn’t want any guys to look at me. … I attract a difference kind of boy when my hair’s red. I get more quality men—like a more thoughtful, nerdy dude.”

– Kirsten Dunst, who I absolutely loved in the Lars Von Trier film “Melancholia,” tells the January issue of Lucky how boys have influenced and reacted to her changing hair over the years. Hmm, I’ve had my hair a variety of colors but haven’t personally noticed a difference in the guys I’ve attracted. Though I do think I’ve had more luck attracting them period since my hair has been a more natural brown. My blonde period wasn’t very eventual, romance wise. What about you? – Kirsten Dunst opens up about her depressive episode in Flare Magazine. And I have to agree with her. Who hasn’t been depressed at some point? I want to meet those people. I think there are different degrees to which people suffer. For some, it’s a mild sadness in stressful times, for others it is lifelong and debilitating. I remember when I sought professional treatment for depression, my therapist told me, “A person who has never been depressed is a person in denial. Your depression is a sign that you are processing some of the sadness you feel.” Thinking about it that way made it feel like less of a stigma. [People]

Cannes Rewards Cosmically Ambitious Movies With Awards

Last night, the Cannes Film Festival concluded with the Robert DeNiro-helmed jury handing out the awards for the best movies and acting on display at the festival. And I am sensing a theme: apparently, the jury was all about films that mixed everyday stories with, well, the fate of the universe. The coveted Palme d’Or award—Cannes’ version of Best Picture Oscar—went to “Tree of Life,” the movie which follows a suburban Texas family in the 1950s through two generations (Brad Pitt is the dad, Sean Penn is his son) connecting them to the creation of the world and cosmos. Meanwhile, most people thought Tilda Swinton had the Best Actress award in the bag for “We Need To Talk About Kevin.” But she was upset by Kirsten Dunst, who stars in “Melancholia,” the story of a bride who begins to feel more and more disillusioned while, lightyears away, a planet threatens to collide with Earth. “I think most people in their twenties go through some sort of depression. If you’re successful at a young age, no matter the profession, there has to come a time when you reevaluate everything, what it means to you. Is this what I want to do for the rest of my life?”

—Kirsten Dunst talks to New York about why we haven’t seen her in a while. Kirsten says she did a stint in rehab to treat her depression, which confuses me. Don’t you go to a therapist or a psych ward for depression? No judgment on getting help for it—I’ve been clinically depressed before, so I understand. Just seems odd to me. Kirsten Dunst On Her Break From Hollywood

“It’s funny because I filmed this movie two years ago, so it seems like longer of a break to everyone else. So I did take a break, but for me it wasn’t as much. I’ve been working so long and I’m at a place now where I can wait for the projects I really feel passionate about. … I think it’s nice to take breaks, I always like when I don’t see actors all the time. … I did a short film and went to art school for a bit. It was a course where we started with charcoal, moved to acrylic—all about getting the base and form of bodies.
