“Harry Potter” Scribe J.K. Rowling Gets Her Own Barbie Doll

Now don’t get jealous, Stephen King. Mattel has created a one-of-a-kind J.K. Rowling doll to honor the billionaire-ess author of the Harry Potter series. At last, a Barbie who can realistically afford all those clothes, the pink Corvette, and mortgage payments for the Barbie Dream House! The J.K. Rowling Barbie made her debut alongside a tennis-playing Kim Clijsters Barbie and Swedish Crown Princess Victoria Barbie, all of whom a Mattel spokeswoman heralded as “true role models” for girls. Unfortunately, none of the three Barbies will be for sale for the general public. Sorry, Muggles! Instead, the new Barbies will chill at a toy fair in Nuremberg, Germany, with other one-of-a-kind Barbies, like Oprah and German Chancellor Andrea Merkel. Unranked Kim Clijsters Shows The U.S. Open Who’s Boss

Last week everyone was all abuzz about Melanie Oudin, the 17-year-old kicking butt at the U.S. Open. Turns out, we got excited about the wrong underdog. Yesterday, unranked Kim Clijsters sealed the deal on the U.S. Open women’s title. Kim was ranked numero uno in the world a few years back, and won the U.S. Open in 2005. But in 2007, she got hitched, retired from tennis, and popped out a baby. Earlier this year, she was invited to play an exhibition game at Wimbledon’s Centre Court, and had such a blast that she decided to come out of retirement. She went into the U.S. Open not expected to do very well but rocked her first few matches. People started really paying attention to her when she knocked out Venus Williams. Next, she took out Serena in the now-infamous game where Serena exchanged words with a line judge. (By the way, Serena was officially fined $10,500 for the incident over the weekend.) When she pounded Caroline Wozniacki in the finals, Kim became the first mama to win the tournament since 1980. Kim, thanks for showing us that we can do it all. Serena Williams Out At The U.S. Open After Allegedly Threatening Line Judge?

Now, I don’t really watch tennis, though I did go to the U.S. Open once and it was funzies. But tonight I’m at home because it’s nasty outside and that’s how cool I am, so I’m watching a little bit because I think Serena Williams is rad. So all of the sudden, like, something happens and the referee on the side — a line judge I have read — makes a call saying Serena did something bad. In technical sports terms, the Los Angeles Times says Serena was called for a foot fault, whatever that means. But then the sports announcers were like, “Nuh uh, she didn’t do that.” Serena didn’t seem to believe it either because she started yelling at the line judge. Then the line judge was like, “Bitch, no you didn’t” and went to the main judge sitting in the big tall chair, and she told him what was going on and then Serena was like, “What? I didn’t say I would kill you!” Then the big judge docked Serena some more points and, lo and behold, Williams lost then and there to her opponent, Kim Clijsters. You can watch the whole thing above.
