Snoop Dogg’s Latest Weird Thing Is … Baby Clothes?

Remember when Charlie Sheen did that really weird thing that one time? No, no, not the time he completely lost his mind, shacked up with a couple of porn stars and talked about winning and warlocks. We’re referring to when Sheen decided he’d make kid’s clothes. Yes, that happened. Well, now mega-weeded mogul Snoop Dogg is teaming up with David Beckham (oh sure) to launch a line of children’s clothing. It seems the pair met when Beckham appeared on Snoop’s “Father Hood” reality show back in 2007 and kept in touch. “I’d love to do a Babygro range and baby house shoes with Beckham,” Snoop supposedly told The Daily Mirror “It’s going to be fly. It’s great news they are having a baby.” And also, of Beckham, Mr. Dogg said, “He’s like a brother. I’m gonna show him to rap, for shizzle. He’s my boy. I love soccer just as he loves hip-hop. Beckham needs to keep doing what he’s doing, he’s a great father.” [Daily Mirror] Keep reading »

Target Outfits Young Girls With Padded Bras Too

It was easy for us to criticize those Brits for selling padded bikinis for little girls. I mean, we Americans are so much more puritanical, right? Wrong! Yesterday, as I was shopping in Target, I came across these heart-printed and striped, brightly colored padded bras in the girls section. The bras were from Target’s Xhilaration line, but some were also from Maidenform’s Self Expressions line made specifically for girls. Some of the bras, which were available in sizes 30 and 32, even had convertible clear straps and came in nude as well as black. Now, the bras didn’t have go-up-a-full-cup-size padding like bras made for women, but they did have underwire and molded cups that suggest to me they’re meant to push up the little bit these girls have. Well, this is one way to bash young girls over the head with the idea that they’re sexual beings. Keep reading »

It’s Cool To Sell Padded Bras For Children, Right?

Um, yeah, not so much. In the strongest case of “What were they thinking?!?” ever, British clothing chain Primark decided to yank hot pink and gold star-printed padded bikinis off its shelves after facing pressure from child protection advocates who felt the products sexualized children. Gee willickers, ya think? Keep reading »

Wearing Kids’ Clothes—Wrong Or Clever?

So, turns out adults have been chasing after Stella McCartney‘s new Gap Kids collection. Maybe it was Grazia magazine who put the idea into people’s heads that they could wear the line after its staffers put a video online of them trying on looks from the collection (and yes, the skinny ladies did fit into some of the styles that weren’t even the largest ones). Watch it here after the jump…

In any case, it would seem that the most popular item in the range—a Michael Jackson/military-inspired coat—has definitely been finding its way into the closets of grown-ups. Racked reports that in New York City, only one large size remains (although it’s surely gone by now). Is shopping the kids’ section: A) A clever and cheaper way to find some fun pieces, B) Upsetting because the only people who can wear it have to be super petite, or C) Sad because apparently the only really awesome designer collaborations out there are for the prepubescent set? Say It Ain’t So: Jon Gosselin To Produce A Line Of Kid’s Clothes?

Jon Gosselin decided that after all that family time he spent at the Reading, PA, compound, it was time to get the hell out of dodge and see the world a little bit. So, what did ol’ Jonny do? He called up his new buddy, Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier, and got himself an invitation to hang on his yacht in Saint Tropez. He also decided to walk around France hand-in-hand with his new girlfriend just two weeks after Kate filed for divorce. And if that’s not enough JG news, his girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, is the daughter (she’s 22 years old) of Kate’s plastic surgeon. What a classy guy! Check out the couples posing for photos, at left, Hailey is in the button down and jeans. But wait! Apparently, the trip wasn’t all play… Keep reading »

Five Reasons We Wish We Still Wore Size 6X

Most of the time, I love being an adult. I can decide when to go to bed (or not), eat an entire package of Sour Patch Kids at the movie theater before dinner, and wear skirts of questionable length. But, every now and then, I wish I were a kid again. Not for the lack of responsibilities or months-long summer vacations, but for the clothes. Today, Stella McCartney announced she’s launching a collection for GapKids and babyGap later this year. If only I could shrink down a bit, I could sport Stella’s designs for less than a gazillion dollars! Here’s what else rocks about shopping in the kids department. Keep reading »
