It’s de riguer to wear extravagant hats to the Kentucky Derby, which means there’s lots of opportunities for attendees to go completely over-the-top. The Kentucky Derby has been going strong for 136 hat-filled years. But in all those races, a mere five female jockeys have competed—and none of them crossed the finish line first. But this weekend, we’re hoping that Rosie Napravnik, age 23, can change that. Rosie (left) will be rising a horse with the best name ever—Pants on Fire—who has a good shot at winning after taking home the win at the Louisiana Derby. May Kentucky be as lucky a state for Rosie.

With the Kentucky Derby this Saturday, we have horses on the brain, and the cutest one we’ve ever seen came into the world just last week. Einstein the horse was born last Thursday, April 22, weighing just 6 pounds, which means he’s overthrown (underthrown?) the current Guinness record for a newborn horse, 9 pounds.
