Just Who Is Kelly Cutrone, Anyway?

If you’re a fan of fashion reality TV, chances are you’ve either fallen in love with or become very afraid of Kelly Cutrone. For those not entranced with the daily life of Whitney Port on “The City” (here’s an exclusive interview), prepare to get to know Kelly, because right before Fashion Week, she’s going to take over your television and book shelf. On Feb. 1, the public relations power house is launching her very own show on Bravo called “Kell on Earth” and, just one day later, her first self-help book, If You Have to Cry, Go Outside … And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You, will hit shelves.

Fair enough: not everyone watches MTV or has heard of the illustrious Kelly Cutrone, so here’s a bit of a catch-up in preparation for February … Keep reading »

Two Reasons To Get Excited If You’re Obsessed With Kelly Cutrone

And we are. Obsessed, I mean. The bitch behind fashion PR company People’s Revolution — and Whitney’s fake-boss on “The City” — was in the news today. Twice! First Kelly appeared on a Fox News morning show and dropped the F-bomb when discussing that rich, lazy snatch, Olivia Palermo. You can watch the vid here, but this is the exact quote.
“I like Olivia as a person, I really do. I’ve known her for a really long time and I know her family. I think that her work ethic is way too elevated and way too lofty … I mean that when you’re in your ’20s and you are in a prestigious place like Elle magazine, and someone like Erin is trying to help you, you better leave your f**king attitude at the door, right?”

I wonder how many gray hairs Rupert Murdoch sprouted over that one?

This is just one example of how awesomely unscripted Kelly is, which is why we’re super psyched about her upcoming reality show, “Kell On Earth.” That’s where the second bit of news comes in — Bravo has finally announced that the show will make it’s debut on Feb. 1, 2010. Mark your calendars! Check out an interview with Kelly, above, discussing the show. [BravoTV] Keep reading »

Jay McCarroll’s Eleven Minutes

Jay McCarroll, the fashion designer who won the first season of “Project Runway,” is the focus of a new documentary that arrives just in time for New York Fashion Week: “Eleven Minutes.” Why 11 minutes? That’s how long his first fashion show will last. The cameras follow McCarroll behind the scenes as he works to live up to the expectations that reality TV bestowed upon him and at the same time expose the insanity that is the fashion industry, of which McCarroll says: “It is the dumbest industry.” Dumb or not, the doc, the cast of which includes the delightful Kelly Cutrone, is a mostly hilarious, sometimes moving look at what it takes to make it — without compromising yourself. The bigger question, of course, is whether McCarroll or any of his reality TV show peers will be able to turn their 15 minutes of fame as reality stars into stars in the real world. Keep reading »

Ashley Dupre And Kelly Cutrone Are A Match Made In Reality TV Heaven

Who sits in the front row at a fashion show is a big deal. It demonstrates to everyone what kind of people the designer appeals to in addition to what big names support the label (however, a lot of times designers pay celebs to stud the front row). At this season’s New York Fashion Week, the front rows have been a little lackluster, with fewer companies shelling out for starlets to attend since money is tight these days. That doesn’t mean, however, that wannabes aren’t sneaking in. At Friday’s Yigal Azrouël show, former callgirl Ashley Dupre found a spot in the front row, and she wasn’t even invited. Keep reading »

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Kelly Cutrone

You probably know Kelly Cutrone from her appearances on “The Hills” and now “The City,” but there’s so much more to her than wearing black, yelling at people, and giving advice about men.

1. Her dream job is “Being paid one million dollars a year to be a teacher in a village school in South India.”

2. She went to Syracuse University.

3. She has a young daughter named Ava. Keep reading »

Rewind: New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week ended on Friday after seven days of sometimes amazing — and sometimes hideous — clothes, a gazillion models, gallons of makeup, and a fleet of shiny black Town Cars filled with pretty young things. In case you were under a rock last week, here’s how it all went down…

  • J.Lo skipped out on judging the Project Runway shows. Tim Gunn made it work and filled in for her. We think his commentary will be better anyway.
  • People’s Revolution founder Kelly Cutrone vlogged for NYMag.com, showing us that she’s the same awesome, crazy fashion character in real life as on The Hills.
  • Victoria Beckham got her hair cut. Let the locks lemmings follow.

    “The Hills” Have Minimal Thrills

Every week I wonder why it is that I’m still watching and using coveted DVR space for The Hills. I’m sorry, maybe these girls are more interesting in real life, but NOTHING happens on this show. Last night I watched 22 minutes of Lauren deciding that she and Doug should just be friends. Seriously? Keep reading »
