Don’t laugh, but “Beetlejuice” is one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s got everything, and by everything I mean humor, horror, and Alec Baldwin. The film is fundamentally perfect … so naturally, more than two decades later, Hollywood is all like, “time for a sequel!” Michael Keaton, who starred as the titular character in the 1988 original, divulged to TMZ that “they” do indeed have plans to revisit the movie. However. (Fellow “Beetlejuice” fanatics, brace yourselves.) Keaton touched on the fact that Katy Perry is reportedly a fan by affirming that he would be more than open to co-starring with her in a sequel. “I’d do anything with Katy Perry. I love Katy Perry,” Keaton responded. KATY PERRY? IN “BEETLEJUICE”? This, my friends, is where childhood memories — and foolish dreams of successful sequels — go to die. Lydia Deetz forever!!!! “[A] lot of people see me as a role model, but I’d like to kind of turn that around and say I appreciate that but I’d like to be seen as an inspiration. Because a role model, I think, will fail you. I mean, I couldn’t tell kids when it’s time for them to try things or do things. I mean, that’s not my role. But, you know, it’s funny. I do see myself becoming this, whatever, inspiration out of default right now, ’cause it’s such a strange world. Like females in pop — everybody’s getting naked. I mean, I’ve been naked before, but I don’t feel like I have to always get naked to be noticed. But it’s interesting to see … I’m not talking about anyone in particular. I’m talking about all of them. I mean, it’s, like, everybody’s so naked. It’s, like, put it away. We know you’ve got it. I got it too. I’ve taken it off for — I’ve taken it out here and there. And I’m not necessarily judging. I’m just saying sometimes it’s nice to play that card, but also it’s nice to play other cards. And I know I have that sexy card in my deck, but I don’t always have to use that card.”
It’s so hard to know what to make of this interview that Katy Perry did with NPR.
Here’s my conflict, after the jump: Keep reading »
Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry have long denied ever dating, but this recently uploaded YouTube video from 2008 lends credence to the rumor that Rob’s sparkly vampire peen has made Katy roar. Watch in grainy, fuzzy detail as Rob and Katy sing Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love To You.” At one point, Katy even sits on Rob’s lap OMG. Prepare yourself, Twihards and California Gurls. [YouTube]
This is the ensemble Katy Perry wore to “Good Morning America” this morning, to promote her impending album, Prism (I know it’s called Prism because there are literally 5,000 spray-painted advertisements for it on every street corner in Manhattan). She wore a dress featuring the Ubiquitous ’90s Daisy Print — you know, the one worn by Blossom and Kimmy Gibler, and practically every other ’90s sitcom teenager. To be honest, it’s giving me a little bit of ’90s PTSD. I remember owning a floppy “Blossom”-esque hat with that print, which I paired with a babydoll dress and my faux Docs (hey, real Dr. Martens are expensive). But even if I could get past the daisies, I cannot co-sign on the knee-high black socks thing. That was never cool. [Photo: INFDaily.com]
Straight from the kitty’s mouth: Katy Perry told WWD back in July that her third fragrance, Killer Queen, drew inspiration from none other than Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. “[He] painted the lyrics of this woman who I wanted to be. She seemed very powerful, and she captivated a room when she walked in … I feel like I’m falling, finally, into that woman Freddie painted.” Several weeks later, the ad teaser for Katy’s newest beauty offering is out — and, you know, we kind of see where she’s coming from with this whole “queen” thing. But Queen, on the other hand? Not so much. [The Cut]
