Katie “The Cougar” Couric Talks About Her Younger Boyfriend

“I am really happy in my personal life … but it is complicated. I’m in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he… He’s incredibly kind, caring and sensitive. He challenges me in ways I wouldn’t be challenged otherwise. Even if we are not on the same page all the time, I like being in his space. I want to be a thoughtful, loving person to him in every way…. I’ve been called all kinds of things. I’ve been ‘cougared,’ which was just obnoxious. But if it’s good enough for Demi, right?”

Katie Couric talks about her relationship with Brooks Perlin, who she’s been with since 2006 and who happens to be 17 years her junior. We say … you go, girl. [NY Daily News] Keep reading »

Katie Couric On Being Called “Perky”

“["Perky"] used to bother me because I thought there was a sexist undertone to that word. It meant shallow and cute, but not somebody who had any depth. It did become a pejorative word, but listen, it’s better than ‘bitchy.’”

— “CBS Evening News” anchor Katie Couric on the “perky” label she earned while co-hosting “Today” for 15 years. I don’t recall anyone calling Matt Lauer “perky,” do you? If I had to host “Today” starting at 7 a.m. every day, “bitchy” would totally be the word they’d use to describe me. [NY Times Magazine] Keep reading »

  • Nothing warms the cockles of my heart more than when a legislator suggests women lie about rape or incest so they can get an abortion. Um, maybe if abortion were available everywhere, on demand, you wouldn’t have this problem, sir! [The Stir]

Her Hands Have Gone To Her Head

Professional hand model Ellen Sirot brings herself to orgasm while talking about her magic hands during an interview with Katie Couric. Thanks to her, I now know that the life of a hand model is a lazy and lonely one. It’s clearly caused Ellen to get a touch of the old crazy. Also, I never noticed Katie’s gorilla paws before. But at least she doesn’t have to wear murderer gloves 24/7. [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Gloria Steinem (Almost) Drops The S-Bomb Talking Reality TV With Katie Couric

Uh oh. Feminist icon Gloria Steinem has some choice words — actually, just one four-letter word — for CBS’ Katie Couric about reality TV.

Steinem says dating shows like “The Bachelor” are “incredibly stupid” and “what is most offensive about them is it’s not equal opportunity stupidity.” Couric points out that shows like “The Bachelorette” exist, too, but Steinem and Jehmu Greene, president of the Women’s Media Center, explain that there are more reality dating shows where women are vying for a man. “I have a kind of motto,” Steinem says. “S**t is better if it’s equally divided. It’s still a problem, but if it’s equally divided, it’s at least not a political problem.”

“The Tyra Show” Really Is Full Of Crap

Just when you thought that Tyra Banks couldn’t be any more full of s**t, she is. America’s Next Top Egomaniac will embarrass herself and the rest of the country by giving some poor woman a colonic on tomorrow’s episode. Tyra! Nooo! How much do you want to bet that this will somehow become a forum for Tyra to talk about how good-looking her anal cavity is? The worst part of this stunt is that the show is calling this the “first-ever televised colonic.” Well, shut your butt Tyra, because Katie Couric has been there and done that. She showed the entire world her pretty little colon on the “Today” show in 2002. And it wasn’t just because she wanted footage of her “smeyesing” a**hole—she wanted to raise awareness about colon cancer. See the clip of Katie’s colonoscopy after the jump. Tyra … we fart on you. Today’s Lady News: Coming Soon, Nights With Diane Sawyer (Instead Of Mornings)

  • Diane Sawyer will be replacing Charlie Gibson as anchor of ABC’s “World News” when Gibson retires at the end of the year. Sawyer, who currently anchors “Good Morning America,” (admittedly, a fluffy morning news show) will be the second woman, after Katie Couric, to anchor a prime-time TV news program by herself. [NY Daily News]
  • The Miss Universe beauty pageant may be fixed! A choreographer for Miss Universe alleged that Donald Trump picks out the six of the 15 finalists so he can personally assure the prettiest ones are included. [Fox News]
  • Teenaged girls in the U.K. are the sub-group most likely to drink too much, a new study has found. Fifty percent of 15-year-old British girls have been drunk, according to a report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation. One in five 13-year-old British girls has been drunk at least twice, which is four times higher than in the U.S. [BBC]—We know that Europe has looser drinking regulations than the U.S. does, but 13 is way too young to be getting wasted.

Katie Couric Makes Princeton Grads Go “HaHa”

Katie Couric gave the Class Day address at Princeton University yesterday, and was the first female to do so! We don’t understand why the old ivy has never before invited a lady, but we’re glad Katie was there to offer her witty insights. She joked about some notorious male Princeton grads, poked a little fun at Sarah Palin’s odd remarks, and gave amusing thoughts about post-college life. She also warned to “please excuse some of the racier jokes – I was encouraged to be saucy and sassy!” No excuses necessary, Katie, we think you’re fabulous. After the jump, some of Couric’s best lines:
