First Look: “The Romantics,” Starring Katie Holmes, Anna Paquin & Josh Duhamel

A few years ago, Katie Holmes was showing such acting promise — critics loved her in “Pieces of April,” though her wooden showing in “Batman Begins” didn’t win her any new fans. Still, before marrying Tom Cruise and having baby Suri, Holmes was transitioning her success on the small screen (on “Dawson’s Creek”) into major roles on the big screen. Then she dropped out of the next “Batman” — at Cruise’s behest — starred alongside Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton in the stinker “Mad Money,” and tried her hand at Broadway to mixed reviews. So when I heard she would be starring in the movie adaptation of the book The Romantics alongside Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel, Elijah Wood, Malin Ackerman, and Candace Bergen, well, I got kinda psyched that Holmes might getting back on the right track. By the looks of the preview, I might be right — it looks fantastic. Gawker suggests this could be Holmes’ “Rachel Getting Married,” though they doubt it will make critics and audiences take her seriously as an actress, like the latter did for Anne Hathaway. What do you think — will you be seeing “The Romantics”? [Gawker] Keep reading »

A Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Reality Series?

If Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s reality TV show was called “Chaotic,” perhaps Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ could be called “Tightly In Control”? The word on the street is that Tom is considering doing a “short documentary series,” letting peeps into his and Katie’s personal life. A source tells Grazia Magazine, “He’s been filming Katie and other aspects of his life for the past month. The original impetus was that he would select a few personal clips to show fans, but word has got out through his agents and he is currently fielding offers from entertainment companies.” Of course, if this happens, do not expect any moments of Katie burping while obviously high, a la Brit-Brit. “Tom places a premium on control, so he’s reluctant to commit to doing a reality TV show unless he’s 100 percent certain it will reflect him and Katie in the best light possible,” the source continues. Weekend Wear: Katie Holmes’ Date Night Look

Katie Holmes has had another random moment of style. This time she was snapped returning to her home with Tom Cruise after he spent the day promoting “Knight and Day.” Honestly, that sounds like a day of all work and no play for Katie, but at least she looked good. Come to think of it, wouldn’t this outfit be perfect for a casual date with Tom? Or any serious boyfriend or husband, for that matter? Your guy has seen you dressed to the nines and in your most comfy sick clothes, so for casual date night you only need a pair of sexy jeans, cute heels, and a button-down blouse that’s perfect for exposing the clavicle. Find out how to get Katie’s look after the jump. Keep reading »

Katie Holmes Moonlights As A Designer

Did you guys know that Katie Holmes was designing clothes these days? Neither did I, but apparently she’s been doing it for two years after pairing up with her friend and stylist Jeanne Yang. Their line is called (creatively) Holmes & Yang, and it all started on a photo shoot where Katie was the subject and Jeanne was the stylist. Jeanne recounts that Katie was looking at a pair of light colored pants with a visible pocket. “[Katie] said, ‘Why didn’t they put a nude lining in?’ ” says Yang. “I thought, ‘That’s crazy that she would notice that.’ This wasn’t just an appreciation of pretty clothes.” Years later, the two decided to team up and their mission is to make super luxurious wardrobe staples—emphasis on the luxury since a cocktail dress retails for well over $2000 and a blouse will set you back $900. Oh, and they also make some of their designs with matching ensembles for girls, since both ladies have super fashionable toddlers. Keep reading »

J.Crew Gets Romantic

Here’s an interesting twist on movie wardrobes and retailer catalogues. For the upcoming film, “The Romantics,” it seems the fashion stylist went a little crazy at J.Crew and outfitted the wardrobe closet with a massive amount of the brand’s offerings. [Drooooooool. -- Editor Amelia, J. Crew Addict] In a sign of appreciation, not to mention a great marketing strategy, J.Crew decided to become a little bit creative and hired a new set of models for their Fall 2010 catalogue — in the form of the film’s celebrities. Malin Akerman, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Adam Brody, and Katie Holmes got together yesterday to pose for the upcoming catalogue, promoting not only J.Crew, but also their new film, which comes out later this year.
