On Tuesday night, Katie Couric sat down with Jimmy Kimmel to talk about where she’s going from here. She discussed her new talk show but also said that she has a new reality series in the works. “I’m particularly excited about that. That’s what clinched the deal for me,” she said. “Because, you know, I thought people really deserved an inside look at my life because it’s so fascinating,” Cut to a promo of “Kate Plus 80.” “Okay you little monsters, dinner time,” Katie yells into a bullhorn, before slingshotting pasta and spaghetti sauce all over a big group of kids. “You get what you get and you don’t get upset.” Who knew she had good comedic timing?

Uh oh. Feminist icon Gloria Steinem has some choice words — actually, just one four-letter word — for CBS’ Katie Couric about reality TV.

Steinem says dating shows like “The Bachelor” are “incredibly stupid” and “what is most offensive about them is it’s not equal opportunity stupidity.” Couric points out that shows like “The Bachelorette” exist, too, but Steinem and Jehmu Greene, president of the Women’s Media Center, explain that there are more reality dating shows where women are vying for a man. “I have a kind of motto,” Steinem says. “S**t is better if it’s equally divided. It’s still a problem, but if it’s equally divided, it’s at least not a political problem.”

  • Teenaged girls in the U.K. are the sub-group most likely to drink too much, a new study has found. Fifty percent of 15-year-old British girls have been drunk, according to a report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation. One in five 13-year-old British girls has been drunk at least twice, which is four times higher than in the U.S. [BBC]—We know that Europe has looser drinking regulations than the U.S. does, but 13 is way too young to be getting wasted.
