Shonda Rhimes Basically Calls Katherine Heigl An “Asshole”

  • Add Shonda Rhimes to the list of people who don’t like Katherine Heigl! The “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy” creator dissed the notoriously snotty actress when discussing how well the “Scandal” cast works together with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “There are no Heigls in this situation,” then says she has a “no assholes” policy: “I don’t put up with bullshit or nasty people. I don’t have time for it.” [The Hollywood Reporter]

  • Jennifer Garner is basically playing publicist for Ben Affleck’s penis right now. [DListed]
  • Anne Hathaway has her bare chest decorated with a crystal heart that says “I Love You” for Harper’s Bazaar. [People]
  • Gwyneth Paltrow apparently wants to “spend a little time” with ex Chris Martin’s new girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence. That sounds like a threat. [Us Weekly] Keep reading »

Is Katherine Heigl “Difficult”?

katherine-heigl

Remember that Hollywood Reporter piece last year in which insiders bashed Katherine Heigl as “entitled” and “difficult”? Well, reporters at yesterday’s NBC summer press tour certainly did, and the resulting questions made for a session Vulture calls both “lively” and “tense.” Asked directly about her reputation, Heigl responded, “I can only say that I certainly don’t see myself as being difficult.” Read more on Newser…

Katherine Heigl Sues Duane Reade & 8 Other Ridiculous Celeb-Related Lawsuits

Katherine Heigl once had an extremely promising career, starring on “Grey’s Anatomy” and in a number of (shitty) rom-coms, but she hasn’t been able to get a job recently thanks to the terrible reputation she and her manager mom have for their diva-like demands. I don’t think her latest headline-making stunt is going to win her any fans — she’s suing Duane Reade drugstores for six million dollars because they tweeted the above photo. I guess her argument is that they used her image to promote their stores without her permission and without paying her, which isn’t okay because she is “a highly successful television and motion picture actress, producer and celebrity” in “high demand.” RECORD SCRATCH. Have a stadium full of seats, Katie Heigl. Highly successful TV and movie actresses don’t need to sue drug store chains because they tweeted a photo. Also, I’m pretty sure Katherine Heigl isn’t worth six million. Ugh, this lawsuit gives me secondhand embarrassment like whoa. [TMZ]

We like in a litigious country so this is of course not the only totally stupid and ridiculous lawsuit related to a celeb’s name and image. Here are a few more…

I realize critiquing Katherine Heigl’s outfit is sort of like kicking someone when they’re down. I mean, I saw “The Ugly Truth” (I was stuck! It was on a plane!) and it was terrrrrrible. However, personally, I like her. I think she’s a ballsy lady who has been dealt a really crappy hand when it comes to publicity. And that’s why I’m telling her, girl, you need to lay off the embellished tops. And if you insist on wearing them, don’t pair ‘em with an ugly white belt. I’m doing this as a service, really. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]

Let’s get one thing straight: I am not a fan of Katherine Heigl movies and I probably won’t see her new film “One for the Money” unless I’m forced. But that doesn’t mean I don’t think she’s gotten a raw deal in the media. A new article from New York magazine asks, “Is It Over for Katherine Heigl?” and examines the former “Grey’s Anatomy” star’s relative bankability compared to her position a few years ago. What it finds is that Katherine Heigl is guilty of a couple of major things, among them:

  1. Being demanding and high strung — incurring the nickname “Hurricane Heigl.”
  2. Having opinions about the projects she does.

But the real core of Heigl’s problem — and why she’s the object of such grating analysis, is that she’s a woman — a woman who’s done and said some unlikeable things. Call it the “America’s Sweetheart” problem, something Heigl seems acutely aware of. “I’ve never really been America’s sweetheart, but for a minute I think that’s what they wanted me to be,” she told Elle this past December. And I had ‘em for a second thinking maybe I was. And then I opened my mouth and it was clear I wasn’t.”

And none of these things would really matter if she was a man. Keep reading »
