Our society is full of new fads: new phones, new computers, new styles and, apparently, a new view on what the perfect woman should look like.
Years ago, women aspired to have that curvaceous bod, the body that men loved and clothing flattered, the body that allowed women to look defined yet healthy. But lately, that image has become dangerously morphed. Curves have become a major no-no in the fashion world, in the movie world, in the real world. Girls everywhere are reading magazines with advertisements featuring models who are slim enough to be mannequins and coiffed enough to look like bombshells. See the problem with this is the definition of what a model truly is, something that I think this society seems to have forgotten. A model is supposed to be an example, and an example is something representative and worthy of striving for. Young girls who have not yet even had the opportunity to come into themselves are being taught or told to imitate the scary skinniness some of these “models” represent. Read more …
Today in incredibly important celebrity dance off news, teen bride Courtney Stodden is ready to throw down against model Kate Upton in a Battle Of The Cat Daddy. The “cat daddy,” for those who are not in the know, is a dance move. Upton got a whole mess of attention when she did the cat daddy on set with pervy photog Terry Richardson. Stodden seems to believe she can do it better. You be the judge! Both videos are above. I’d say Kate has more natural rhythm, but Courtney gets points for enthusiasm.
Inveterate bikini model and Florida girl Kate Upton was shot for this month’s Vogue (the one with Emma Stone on the cover) in actual clothes. And as she is wont to tell you, it was a very strange experience. “I’m from Florida, where your whole wardrobe is flip-flops, cutoffs and bikinis,” said Upton of the experience. Anna Wintour’s magazine set her up in a Joseph Altuzarra coat and Michael Kors boots, fully covering her swimsuit-ready frame. What do you think? Can Upton make the transition from bikini babe to couture cool? [NY Post]
Kate Upton’s back! And this time she’s on a GQ cover. And, shocker, she’s wearing a bikini and sucking on a Firecracker. Original? Not really. Refreshing on a 100-degree day? Yes. But it was even more refreshing for the people hanging out on the Santa Monica Pier during Kate’s photo shoot. “For the GQ shoot, we were on that ride where the seat spins while the actual ride is spinning … And all of a sudden the whole entire top falls off! I’m holding myself, laughing, turning bright red, but a lot of people are watching, so they kicked us out of the Santa Monica Pier—it was so embarrassing,” Upton confessed. See? She has work issues just like the rest of us. “It’s like any job,” she said. “You find your strengths and play them up.” Well, that is something she does extremely well. Let’s cool off, shall we? Here are some other famous ladies sucking on popsicles. [GQ]
Modeling her latest bikini collection, Kate Upton shows off a garment that we’re really hoping doesn’t catch on: ass-less denim shorts. Although to be fair, if anyone could pull of this look, it would be Kate. [VH1]
Since Kate Upton is largely known for her twins, it shouldn’t be too surprising that the voluptuous model stars in a pair of videos currently going viral on the interwebs. In this first one, posted to photographer Terry Richardson’s website, Upton attempts to dance in the red dental-floss bikini she wore on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this year.
Let’s just say that it doesn’t necessarily work so well. Keep reading »
In the past week, both Katy Perry and Kate Upton have rocked these new Christian Louboutin pumps, which have the word ‘sex’ written across the toe in Swarovski crystals. You know, because they’re subtle. Keep reading »
That Kate Upton is a smart girl. Realizing that her 15 minutes of fame, as the cover girl of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue at least, are currently ticking away, she’s launched her own swimwear collection. Titled “Kate Upton’s Beach Bunny Collection,” the line features a series of tiny, bejeweled bikinis. Not personally my style, but what do you think? (And keep in mind, Kate Upton’s rockin’ bod doesn’t come with…)

Apparently, Kates really like posing for magazines in the buff. Kate Walsh took it all off for the cover of Shape earlier this week. Now it’s Kate Upton‘s turn. The 19-year-old model appears nude on the new cover and within the new issue of Muse Magazine, an Italian “Fashionart” publication—though, let’s be honest, she’s not wearing that much less than on her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover. This cover is a re-creation of Marilyn Monroe’s so-called “Last Sitting,” which was shot in 1962 by Bert Stern, six week’s before the actress’ death. With her blonde hair teased high, Upton rolls around in a bed with white sheets, posing flirtily for photographer Sebastian Faena. Keep reading »
I spent my teens and early 20s wishing for a bigger, rounder, fuller body. In fact, I did more than wish. I padded my bra with two rolled-up washcloths, I wore two pairs of long underwear beneath my jeans, and I stuffed myself with a pint of ice cream every night. Every night.
Alas, none of it worked. I remained a small-boobed, flat-assed, tiny-limbed, size zero waif. Keep reading »
