We get it: I love Kate Moss. She’s a stunning model, a sartorial darling, a party girl and mother and rock star wife — she covers all the bases, and looks incredible whilst doing so. But Kate is also notoriously press-shy, which means that most media accounts of her are, well, straight-up awkward, despite testaments (by her many famous friends) that she’s one of the sweetest, most fun people around. It’s rare that she’s captured in a genuine moment… but that’s exactly what her old friend, British TV presenter Nick Grimshaw (with whom she read aloud Fifty Shades of Grey for charity), elicited when he agreed to prank call her live on BBC Radio One. Grimmy, as she refers to him, phones Moss to inquire about the whereabouts of his “High School Musical” DVD, because he needs to watch it right now, and she reacts with legitimate concern. Considering Kate’s tight-lipped public persona, as The Cut writer Charlotte Cowles attests, “this may just be the best press she’s gotten in ages.” [NYMag.com]

Kates Moss and Middleton effectively share nothing in common aside from a first name and a nationality: one is a renegade party girl and supermodel, the other a refined, perfectly vanilla royal wife and full-time perfect blowout-haver. And yet! The results of a poll formulated by Britain’s largest online beauty retailer, feelunique.com, show that the polar opposites snagged the top spots in the running for the UK’s most influential beauty icons.

Moreover, Middleton has knocked Moss out of the prime seat by almost double, with 30 percent of the poll’s responders citing the Duchess as the inspiration behind their beauty purchases. Says the site’s editorial director, who happens to be named NEWBY HANDS (????!), “Kate and Kate represent two sides of really modern women and between the two of them they cover all style and lifestyle tastes. … Despite their differences they are both aspirational and fascinating.” But, you know, Moss forever and ever and ever amen. There is only one Kate in London, am I right?

Of course, this raises the question — which side are you on? Do you skew towards Kate Moss’s insouciant tousled hair, smudged smoky eye, and nighttime red lip, or Kate Middleton’s black liner, flawless curls, and healthy bronzed skin? [Telegraph]

Man, England gets all the best stuff! (Not really? Fine.) As part of a fundraiser for the charity Comic Relief, BBC Radio 1 promised listeners that they would have the notoriously tight-lipped Kate Moss in to read an excerpt from Fifty Shades of Grey, on the premise that they would be able to collect £200,000. And, duh, they did it, because there’s no better incentive for raising money than anything involving Kate Moss. So, want to hear Katers open “that mouth of hers” (says host Nick Grimshaw) to read a page out of the beloved literary masterpiece using her exceptionally sexy voice? Of course you do! She almost — almost — pulls it off without laughing, and then finally collapses into a heap of giggles. Isn’t she the cutest? [Fashionista]

Kate Moss dons an admirable amount of hats: fashion model, Britain’s national treasure, style icon, wife, mum, dog owner, muse… Hell, she’s even dabbled in (adorably awkward) singing on a Babyshambles track. But Playboy cover model? That’s one I did not see coming. NowThis News claims to have gotten its hands on an internal memo from the publication that named Moss as the cover girl of its 60th anniversary issue, which would hit newsstands January of next year. Kate has posed in the nude countless times, but her jobs historically tend to skew artsy avant-garde rather than garish lad’s mag. According to the memo, she’s set to be shot for the editorial by legendary photog team Mert and Marcus, with W‘s Alex White as stylist, this week — and with a team like that, the results are likely to be much different from the magazine’s usual fare.

Though it’s not much more than a rumor right now, it’s certainly feasible, and I bet it would convince a whole new demographic to pick up Playboy on the newsstands for the very first time (duh, ladiez be lovin’ Kate Moss). I know I would — I buy every Kate cover. It’s an expensive habit. Seriously, do you know how many covers this girl gets? [Fashionista]
