Woman Quits Her Job To Become Professional Kate Middleton Look-Alike

Kate Middleton is not the only tall brunette with shiny-shiny hair to die for. A British pharmaceutical assistant, Kate Bevan, 21, who bears a striking resemblance to the princess-to-be, has quit her job to become a full-time Kate Middleton look-alike. “I went out to buy a sandwich and I was stopped four times by people in the street,” Kate Bevan told People. (Because the fiancée of the future king of England totally goes out and buys lunch on her own.) “Nearly everyone who comes through the pharmacy door makes a comment and gawps in total shock,” she added. She is now taking dialect lessons to lose her West Midlands accent and sound more like the posh princess-to-be. We know Elvis impersonators warble “Heartbreak Hotel” and chomp on peanut butter and banana sandwiches. But what does a princess impersonator do — wear big silly hats? Roll around in piles of priceless jewels? [People] Keep reading »

British Couples Are Pissy Prince William And Kate Middleton Marrying On “Their” Weekend

Britain apparently has a nation full of Emn Haddad-Friedmans. Who is Emn Haddad-Friedman, you ask? She was the bride who planned her wedding for July 31st in Rhineback, New York, the same weekend as Chelsea Clinton. Weddings are stressful enough without worrying the Clintons stole your caterers! After Prince William announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton and set the wedding date for April 29, 2011, couples across Britain who chose the same day started fretting. Some Brits are really nutso about the royal family and the prince’s wedding will be a big enough deal to skip weddings of people they actually, you know, know. Personally, I think if someone chooses to stand outside Westminster Abbey for a peek at Kate’s bridal gown, or parks in front of the telly for the televised ceremony, it’s one less d-bag’s dinner and drinks you need to pay for. A handful of other British and international designers have also imagined creations for People—check out a couple of our faves for some midday daydreaming, after the jump! [People] Keep reading »

Tesco Knocks Off Kate Middleton’s Engagement Dress For $25

Another day, another royal wedding knockoff: The European chain store Tesco (like an American Kmart) has quickly brought a cheapo replica of princess bride Kate Middleton‘s engagement dress to the shelves. Kate’s royal blue dress from the designer Issa cost roughly $630, while the lighter blue, shorter-sleeved Tesco version is a mere $25. I don’t really think the knockoff looks anything like the original. But then again, neither do those copycat engagement rings. When they manage to knock off a rich, handsome prince, then I’ll be impressed. [Daily Mail] Keep reading »

Bishop Broadbent Gives The Royal Engagement The Bird

Reverend Pete Broadbent, the Bishop of Willesden, is giving Prince William and Kate Middleton the smack down. After their engagement announcement last week, he took to Facebook to post some angry rants. Everyone really is on Facebook, huh? But I digress. His choice commentary after the jump. Keep reading »

Who Pays For The Royal Wedding?

When many American couples are planning a wedding, tradition dictates the father of the bride foots all or most of the bill. Sure, Kate Middleton‘s parents are self-made millionaires from their mail order party supply company, Party Pieces. But that’s nothing on Prince William‘s deep-pocketed relatives, of course. Luckily, the royal family is not going to give poor Michael Middleton a heart attack. “Both the Prince of Wales [i.e., Prince Charles] and the Queen are likely to contribute towards the cost of the wedding. It will be a family contribution but no final decision has been made,” a palace spokesman told the Telegraph. “In particular, if the reception is held at Buckingham Palace, the Queen will pay for that.” For the Middleton family’s sake, here’s hoping that “are likely to contribute towards the cost” means “pay for everything.” Keep reading »
