According to a survey of 2,000 British women, Kate Winslet has the “Most Desired Body of the Decade.” This newfound title makes me giddy for a number of reasons—I’ve been a worshipper at the temple of Kate forever. Sure, her body is amazing and she’s obviously a goddess, but what I think makes her so amazing is her love and acceptance of herself. As a woman, especially a woman in Hollywood, that is no easy feat. Yet she has never waivered, which makes her a true role model. When I heard a few months ago that pop star Jessica Simpson was considering a reality TV show about “real beauty,” I was thrilled. Finally! A celeb who sought to use the negative press attention towards her and spin it a positive way! In the wake of the offensive tabloid lynch mob over Simpson’s “mom jeans” weight gain, taking the high road seemed like a classy thing to do.

The details of said show are finally out: in a docu-series called “The Price of Beauty” for VH1, Simpson will travel around the world speaking to women about the lengths they go to to achieve physical perfection, including their diets, clothes and beauty regimens.

It does sounds like a cool premise for a TV program. But when I read Jessica’s statement regarding her show, I came to my senses about just who the feel-good, body-positive “messenger” is. Keep reading »

Kate Winslet Is Intent On Controlling Her Body Image

Kate Winslet is suing the Daily Mail over comments the paper printed about her exercise regime. This isn’t the first time she’s sued a publication about statements regarding her body image, and we bet it won’t be the last. Kate’s “curvy girl” shape and healthy attitude about eating and exercise are as important a part of her image as puffy lips are to Angelina Jolie.

In a suit she filed for nearly $300,000 in libel damages, Kate claims an article in the Daily Mail “injured her personal and professional reputation.” The suit stems from the paper’s retort to a quote Kate had given to Elle about how she stays in shape. In the magazine, she said, “I don’t go to the gym because I don’t have time, but I do Pilates workout DVDs for 20 minutes or more every day at home.” In “Should Kate Winslet Win an Oscar for the World’s Most Irritating Actress?”, writer Liz Jones doubted this was actually Kate’s exercise routine, and speculated that the star probably had to work out a lot more to maintain her figure. A new study in the Daily Mail U.K. shows that French women are the thinnest in Europe, yet they think they are too heavy, and British women are the biggest, but believe they’re too thin! And to make the Euro-study even more insulting and bizarre, the story is illustrated with pics of Kate Winslet and Audrey Tautou side by side; Winslet representing the big Brit, and Tautou the petite Parisian. Oh yeah, if Kate Winslet is chunky, then I’m Jabba The Hutt. And though Audrey is as thin as a very pretty french fry, she’s probably just a naturally slim lady. I can’t help but thinking this superficial study is a poke at Scottish Susan Boyle and the world’s obsession with her looks. Hugh Hefner Wants Kate Winslet And Every Other Female Celeb To Pose In Playboy

Kate Winslet has gotten naked for several movies, including “The Reader” and “Titanic,” and it seems that Hugh Hefner has evaluated her assets and think she’s Playboy material: “It’s a competitive market, more than it used to be, so she would be a most welcome addition in our pages.” The funny thing is, Hefner basically says this about any woman in the news. During Miley Cyrus’s Vanity Fair photo scandal, Hef invited her to strip for his magazine when she’s of legal age. After Lindsay Lohan posed naked mimicking Marilyn Monroe for New York magazine, Hefner reportedly wanted her to do a similar shoot for Playboy. Following her sexy GQ cover, Jennifer Aniston was reportedly approached by Hefner and offered $4 million to pose. Oh, and let’s not forget that he had hoped to get Sarah Palin as a centerfold. Hugh doesn’t seem to get it; Just because a woman will take off her clothes for “art” doesn’t mean she’ll take everything off for him. We’re going to take a wild guess and say that Winslet would never in a million years pose naked for Playboy — unless the economy gets even worse, of course. Keep reading »
