If you were hoping to catch a glimpse of Kate Middleton leaving the hospital the day after giving birth looking anything but Duchess of Cambridge-caliber fresh, you, mon amie, are out of luck. Lest we forget that the new mother is truly no mere mortal, Kate’s got her personal hairdresser on deck, prepping the Duchess’s royal locks for the inevitable gawking to come upon her exit. I mean, it may sound egregious, but when you really think about it… who won’t be looking at Kate today? Nobody, that’s who, and when you’re a public figure celebrated for (among other things, of course) your perfect hair, I can’t blame her for wanting to bring it. [Fashionista]
If the last nine months have taught us anything, it’s that Royal Baby Fever is a real thing. Princess Kate has most likely amassed more headlines than any other woman when it comes to her pregnancy. And, with the Royal Baby having finally descended upon us, I have a feeling that the royal family will not be out of the spotlight anytime soon. It seems as if everyone has a stake in this baby.
In fact, many people have already doled out copious amounts of advice to Princess Kate, from Snooki to baseball player David Ortiz. Many websites and morning shows have also chimed in with their own cutesy bits of mothering advice for Kate. And, that’s sweet in all, but in reality, it’s all just show for us. None of this — and I hate to burst your bubble — will actually impact Kate or Will when it comes to their new baby boy. Keep reading »
The royal uterus watch is over! After months (nine, to be exact) of speculation, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton gave birth to a baby boy today. Weighing in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces, the new royal heir’s name is still unknown, but we’ll keep you updated the second we have more information. According to Kensington Palace:
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm.
The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz.
The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.
Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”
Don’t you just love it when the British say “in hospital”? [Guardian]
Not sure if you’ve caught wind of the barely mentioned, mostly overlooked news story that Duchess Kate is IN LABOR RIGHT NOW and the royal baby will be born ANY MINUTE. You may not care that right now, as you read this, the heir to the English throne might be crowning out of Kate Middleton’s vagina. But guess what? You don’t have to care. I’ll care for you. They’re just a clique of funny-looking rich people with no real power and yet their drunken nightclub stumbles, silly hats and romantic foibles are endlessly fascinating to me. With Kate about to give birth to a baby — third-in-line to the throne! — any minute now, it’s as good a time as any to brush up on your royals.

It’s finally happening! Kate Middleton has been admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital in London in the early stages of labor. Obviously, there’s no word on what the baby’s name or gender will be yet: Kate seemed to indicate she was having a daughter but Prince Harry has reportedly been telling people the royal couple is expecting a boy. Either way, Kate and her newborn will spend the first six weeks of the baby’s life living at the Middleton family’s home. The newborn will be third in line for the throne, regardless of his or her gender, after Prince Charles and Prince William. We’ll be updating this post as more info comes in about the impending birth. [People] [Photo via Getty]
You can’t put a price on the birth of a child—unless you’re the British economy, and the child is an heir to the throne. The royal baby, due in July, will bring some $376 million into Britain’s retail coffers, according to a Center for Retail Research report. That’s thanks to all the baby-related stuff hitting the shops, from “Pitter Patter” nail polish to royal baby showers for non-royal moms. Meanwhile, the Middleton family company, Party Pieces, is selling a new baby range. Read more on Newser…
