Today’s Lady News: UVA Warns Against Attacks By Strangers & Crystal Renn Walks For Chanel
- Yeardley Love, the UVA lacrosse player found dead in her apartment over a week ago, was laid to rest this weekend. Her on-again/off-again boyfriend, George Huguely, was arrested and charged with first degree murder. While he has not been convicted — though his lawyer has already said that Love’s death was “an accident,” which does imply Huguely played a role — all evidence points to the fact that Love was killed by someone she knew. So why, wonders The Sexist, is UVA responding to this tragedy by warning students against crimes committed by strangers? [The Sexist]
- The 16-year-old who brought rape charges against former football star Lawrence Taylor says that she’s a huge Giants fan, but didn’t recognize the former player. Preview This: Lagerfeld’s Sexy New Short, “Remember Now”
The news today from fashion giant Karl Lagerfeld: The Kaiser directed a short film, and the preview has just hit the web (the man sure does know how to build anticipation). Titled “Remember Now,” the 48-second spot above doesn’t give away a lot in plot detail, but our guess would be that there isn’t much of one anyhow. It’s presented by Chanel, so the video’s main purpose is to act as a clever promotional tool for showing off the fashion house’s clothes in a sneaky yet sexy way (similar to other brands’ techniques for creating buzz with mini-movies).

Beginning on May 16, the design house will give shoppers, including us wannabe Chanel owners, the inside scoop on what goes into making its famous bags. Stop by the 57th Street flagship store in NYC for “The Secrets of the Chanel Handbag” and learn all about the bag of your dreams, from the time of Coco to Karl’s present-day designs. This is no ordinary history lesson though, because the exhibit shares a few of the special details about the bag’s construction and its evolution over the years.
