We’re still not over DONDA yet, Kanye West’s plan for global takeover that he explained in depth over Twitter on Wednesday night during a manic rant. DONDA’s goal to “help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel … to dream of, create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need … too marry our wants and needs” with the assistance of “DJs, video game designers, publishers, tech guys, lawyers, bankers, nutritionist[s]” may sound lofty. But Jimmy Kimmel has helped conceptualize the grand Kanye plan into something … well … something the rest of us can conceptualize. [YouTube]
Some of us quietly assemble our plans for global conquest and world domination in the pages of our private journals. But not Kanye West! Kanye knows that sharing is caring and pooped out a high-top sneaker’s worth of Twitter gems last night. At the top of Kanye’s to-do list? Starting a school/design center/Chinese buffet called DONDA, in honor of his late mother Donda West. And you — yes, you! — can be a part of it. Especially if you are one of the following… Keep reading »
Looks like that rumor is true: Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend Amber Rose is blabbing to Star magazine that the rapper cheated on her with Kim Kardashian (who was dating Reggie Bush at the time). Good show all around, everyone!
“Kim is one of the main reasons why me and Kanye are not together,” Amber told the tabloid. “She’s a homewrecker!” The model said that Kim called, texted and sent racy photos to Kanye and got busted by Amber herself, who fired off an email to which Kim never responded. “She was sending pictures, and I was like, ‘Kim, just stop. Don’t be that person,’” Amber said. “I thought at least she’d be woman enough to respond to me. She never responded.” Keep reading »

Kanye West’s Twitter is really the gold standard of outrageous celebrity Twitter-izing, and so it makes sense that embroidery magician Amy Sheridan has chosen West’s Twitter as her raison d’etre. She’s embroidered several of her favorite Kanye tweets for your pleasure, and will happily craft your favorite 140-character West saying for a very-reasonable $40 bucks. Great holiday gift or greatest holiday gift? [Supervelma]
“Kanye called me an incredible person and I take that as an apology. And if it was an apology, I forgive him for being an asshole. I don’t hate him.
A lot of it is just negativity and I don’t like to bring that energy into my life. But I did look at it and he said that, he said um, ‘When I said that I didn’t like your dress, I was an asshole. When I said that I didn’t like your hair, I was an a**hole.’
And he was an a**hole. He was. I feel like he gets that now, and he’s remorseful about being an a**hole to me.”
— Model Amber Rose responds to her ex-boyfriend Kanye West thanking the city of Philadelphia (fifth item) for the “incredible” person — her — who inspired his song “Runaway.” Her response to Kanye’s public apology continued, after the jump. Keep reading »
Kanye West’s histrionic lyrics and “Saved By the Bell”‘s moronic episodes; two things you’d never thought see mesh. And yet! The genius behind the new site, Kanye’d By the Bell manages to find striking parallels between the show and the controversial rapper. The site’s uncanny ability to perfectly combine “SBTB” screen shots with Kanye lyrics is almost frightening. More “Kanye’d By The Bell”s after the jump. [Kanye'd By the Bell] Keep reading »
Occupy Wall Street got its biggest — if briefest — celeb occupier on Monday when Kanye West showed up at Liberty Square/Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan and pow-wowed with Russell Simmons. Simmons was there showing his support for the movement, and while Kanye has yet to say what he thought of his time among the eclectic community of occupiers, Simmons had this to say:
“It was amazing to see how people loved seeing Kanye West at Occupy Wall Street. His music and his art has always been about the voice and the power of the people. Kanye just wanted to come down and experience the growing movement that has opened the eyes of many around this country and around the world of the struggles of poor people. The energy at Liberty Plaza was electrifying and the momentum to get the money out of politics is growing quickly.”
If Kanye’s interest is genuine, awesome, but I hope reports that he wore a gold grill for the visit are untrue. A Givenchy shirt is one thing, but a gold grill is just so … how should I put this? … one percent. [Global Grind, Village Voice]

The hype surrounding Kanye West’s debut women’s fashion line, DW, was on overdrive this past weekend, as the rapper-turned-designer presented his first collection during Paris Fashion Week. Of course it was a star-studded affair, and fashion heavy-hitters like Anna Wintour, Robin Givhan, and Carine Roitfeld were in attendance. Kanye consulted on the collection with other fashion insiders, including Central Saint Martins professor and British fashion guru Louise Wilson, who taught Alexander McQueen, Giles Deacon, and many other famous designers.
Although Kanye put in a lot of work and preparation on DW, it still falls flat … or should I say heavy … to me. Some fashion editors and critics were polite enough to say that he made a valiant first attempt and the line is a work in progress. But others weren’t too shy or awestruck by Mr. West as to basically call DW a knock-off. Keep reading »
