On April 23, 1977, Kalpen Suresh Modi was born, and on March 21, 1984, I was born. We went on to do different things; he got to work for Obama, I almost made the cut to be a Disney Princess in Orlando. Though it seemed unlikely our life paths would ever cross, I have been dead set on making that happen. And I have failed, failed, failed.
I am not one of those people who is shy about her crushes. I HAVE A CRUSH ON KAL PENN. It began the first time I saw “The Namesake” in 2007. I had just moved to New York City and was feeling lonely, and I went to the Paris Theater by myself with a box of Dots and some whiskey and cried my little blue eyes out. I wanted to be that blonde bitch who got to date Kal so bad I had visions of pulling off some weird-ass “Silence Of The Lambs” shit on her. No matter that she didn’t get to date him in real life. Because here’s something you are about to learn about me: I don’t care about real life. I am all about fantasy all the time. Like getting to make out with Kal Penn. I want to lick those lips in circles until the Hindi cows come home. I want to run my hand through his locks and cup his butt cheeks. Keep reading »
Did you watch the televised coverage of the first night of the Democratic National Convention? I did! Now, full disclosure, though I’m sure you guys already know this — I am far-left-leaning lady, and while I’m no fan of the two-party system, I’m obviously more inclined to agree with the Democratic Party’s platform. I’m a progressive — pro-choice, pro-marriage equality, pro-immigration, etc. — and my opinions on what’s said at the RNC and DNC reflect those beliefs. But politics aside… Keep reading »
Last year, Kal Penn decided that he was done with acting. After campaigning for Barack Obama, he accepted a post in the White House as the president’s associate director of public engagement. His character on “House” was consequently killed off, and he was free to go to Washington and work under his real name, Kalpen Modi. But apparently, he just couldn’t stay away from the screen. His reps have announced that he is going back to acting. The first order of business on his docket—he’ll be joining John Cho in another installment of “Harold and Kumar,” this time Christmas-themed. The flick begins filming in June, and may or may not be in 3-D. So what happened exactly, Kal? Did politics just wear you down? Did you get sick of being a suit? Were you pissed off about the passage of the health care bill? Or maybe you just needed a burger? [E! Online] Keep reading »
Actor Kal Penn of “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” has left the show House for the White House and starts his new job this week. Now before you go on laughing at the funnyman, this UCLA grad and UPenn professor is more than qualified. He will be stepping in as the Associate Director in the White House’s Office of Public Liaison & Intergovernmental Affairs. As an Indian-American he is the perfect liason between Obama and the Asian community. Happy first week Kal! Keep reading »
If you’ve ever watched “Rock of Love,” you’re well aware that dating a rock star is passe. Ditto for athletes—who wants a dude whose bicep measurement is bigger than his IQ? No, there’s a new type of guy to lust after—Washington politicos. The Obama administration is ushering in a new throng of young, brilliant, and (dare we say) extremely hot politicians, and Hollywood’s leading ladies are taking notice. Rashida Jones, of “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation,” is currently dating President Obama’s chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau. Sure, he may be the one who drunkenly groped a Hillary Clinton cut-out during last year’s primary, but this dude is (a) adorable and (b) has one of the highest ranking jobs in the country even though he’s only 27. The couple made their first appearance at the White House Correspondents Dinner and have since been spotted cuddling at a hip Georgetown bar. [Celebitchy]
Then there’s “Private Practice” star Kate Walsh, who’s been getting cozy with Sean Smith, deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. (You know he’s important because his title is so long.) The two were apparently “phone friends” for months, but recently went public. Sean reportedly sent her flowers the day after the Correspondents Dinner to thank her for being his date. Awww…sweet.
We hope other Hollywood ladies catch on. Here are a few more civil unions we have in mind. Keep reading »
