Kal Penn Done With The White House, Going Back To White Castle

Last year, Kal Penn decided that he was done with acting. After campaigning for Barack Obama, he accepted a post in the White House as the president’s associate director of public engagement. His character on “House” was consequently killed off, and he was free to go to Washington and work under his real name, Kalpen Modi. But apparently, he just couldn’t stay away from the screen. His reps have announced that he is going back to acting. The first order of business on his docket—he’ll be joining John Cho in another installment of “Harold and Kumar,” this time Christmas-themed. The flick begins filming in June, and may or may not be in 3-D. So what happened exactly, Kal? Did politics just wear you down? Did you get sick of being a suit? Actor Kal Penn of “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” has left the show House for the White House and starts his new job this week. Now before you go on laughing at the funnyman, this UCLA grad and UPenn professor is more than qualified. He will be stepping in as the Associate Director in the White House’s Office of Public Liaison & Intergovernmental Affairs. Hollywood Ladies + Obama Staffers = Romance?

If you’ve ever watched “Rock of Love,” you’re well aware that dating a rock star is passe. Ditto for athletes—who wants a dude whose bicep measurement is bigger than his IQ? No, there’s a new type of guy to lust after—Washington politicos. The Obama administration is ushering in a new throng of young, brilliant, and (dare we say) extremely hot politicians, and Hollywood’s leading ladies are taking notice. Rashida Jones, of “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation,” is currently dating President Obama’s chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau. Sure, he may be the one who drunkenly groped a Hillary Clinton cut-out during last year’s primary, but this dude is (a) adorable and (b) has one of the highest ranking jobs in the country even though he’s only 27. The couple made their first appearance at the White House Correspondents Dinner and have since been spotted cuddling at a hip Georgetown bar. [Celebitchy]

Then there’s “Private Practice” star Kate Walsh, who’s been getting cozy with Sean Smith, deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. (You know he’s important because his title is so long.) The two were apparently “phone friends” for months, but recently went public. Sean reportedly sent her flowers the day after the Correspondents Dinner to thank her for being his date. Awww…sweet.

Even Sephora is offering special products to de-unibrow dudes and even enhance their arch — like Gaultier’s $18 Monsieur Groomer gel. The sexy and lovable twosome, John Cho and Kal Penn, are back in action; Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay opens today. While their comedic caper is getting great reviews, boys, you had our $10 at hello. Although, you may not get to have steamy prison sex or share a Crave Case with the stoners, we gotta say their fans are a good-looking crop too.
