“Jerry Lewis once said that he didn’t think women were funny, so I’d just like to say, with all respect, ‘F*ck you!’”

– Judd Apatow accepted the Critics’ Choice Aware for Best Comedy film on behalf of “Bridesmaids” and gave comedian Jerry Lewis a long-overdue middle finger for a sexist comment made in 1998. While speaking to an audience at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, Lewis said ”I don’t like any women comedians” and “A woman doing comedy doesn’t offend me but sets me back a bit. I, as a viewer, have trouble with it. I think of her as a producing machine that brings babies in the world.” (Not surprisingly, Jerry Lewis is the same guy who said he wanted to “smack [Lindsay Lohan] in the mouth” and “give her a spanking.” What a charmer.) Coming Soon To A Theater Near You: An Apatowian Christian Comedy?

First Judd Apatow produced “Bridesmaids,” a decidedly girly movie co-written by Kristen Wiig. And now, it looks like others are interested in taking the Apatowian sense of humor—gross-out comedy, adults in arrested adolescence—and transplant it to an unexpected demographic. And thus, we have “The Waiting Game,” a pro-abstinence flick for the Christian set. In other words, it’s a “sexless comedy about sex.” The flick will star Candace Cameron and it even has a cameo by Ted Haggard, the pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado who was brought down after it was revealed he paid a gay masseuse for sex. “Bridesmaids”: Cinematical Genius Or Pink Fluff?

A while back, I remember asking myself, “Could Judd Apatow curate a group of women the same way he works magic with his usual guys? Or is his humor purely dude-like?” Well, it appears that he is now taking a stab at a female-focused movie, “Bridesmaids.” At first, I was a bit appalled that the female Apatow movie would, of course, be about a woman going crazy over her wedding. But now that I’m reading more about it, I’m thinking it will be much, much, much better than a “Bride Wars” redux. The movie is written by Kristen Wiig, which already makes it that much cooler. And it stars Kristen alongside Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper, and Rose Byrne—all ladies I love.

Judd Apatow’s Hilarious Video For American Jewish World Service

I’ve never been a huge fan of charity videos because they’re so dramatic and subsequently always make me cry. I cry at the babies playing with flies. The sad-eyed dogs. The animals in cages faintly crying. If Sarah McLachlan is playing in the background, I’m already bummed. But Judd Apatow has gone a totally different route with his video for AJWS, the American Jewish World Service. Jennifer Aniston Will Go Topless, Smoke Pot & Have A Threesome In Upcoming Apatow Comedy

After her latest film, “The Switch,” bombed at the box office, Jennifer Aniston has finally decided to switch things up. Well, sorta. According to Hollywood Life, the actress has signed on for the next Judd Apatow comedy, “Wanderlust,” and will be playing Paul Rudd’s “chain-smoking” wife who “sleeps around” and even goes “topless” at one point in the movie. Way to diversify, Jen! Her box office money-making average might finally raise given that A) Apatow’s movies typically do very well, B) Paul Rudd is a kick-ass co-star, and C) Aniston will be playing a character that seemingly has a little more edge than her usual roles. The latter worked well for her in indie movies like “The Good Girl” and “Friends With Money,” so while this is a comedy, I personally have high hopes that this could be just the vehicle Aniston needs to justify her big-screen salary.

We’re sick and tired of the “Is Judd Apatow A Sexist Pig Because His Main Characters Are Loser Guys Who Date Women Who Are Too Good For Them?” debate.

No, he’s not. True, Katherine Heigl said “Knocked Up” was “a little sexist.” But that woman complains about everything.

Nevertheless, whether or not Apatow’s a sexist pig has taken on a life of its own and become something he has to answer for. Earlier this week at a screening of his latest film, “Funny People,” Apatow told an audience:

“I think, really, what a lot of these issues are is that women are romanticized in movies. [My] movies go pretty hard at having women have as many problems as men. They make mistakes that are as big as men’s. So when someone says ‘Knocked Up’ seems sexist, I’m like, ‘Really?’ I mean, Seth [Rogen] has an earthquake, and he grabs his bong before his pregnant girlfriend. That’s pretty bad. But I try to weigh it evenly so it’s not really about men or women; it’s just about miscommunications and us at our worst.”
