Okay, so it’s probably the rapiest seasonal tune, but I couldn’t help but get a case of the warm and fuzzies watching Lady Gaga and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a rather random duo, singing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” from ”Lady Gaga And The Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular.” (Let me be clear — I didn’t watch this live. I was too busy putting on my fat pants and making a food baby on Thanksgiving to watch TV.) [The Mary Sue]

It’s been a long, tough week and I’ve been having ALL THE FEELINGS. But one little picture in OUT magazine of Joseph Gordon-Levitt snuggling a behbeh kitteh and my heart rate instantly slows. Well played, prop stylist, well played. [OUT]
I wasn’t interested in making a movie about pornography. I was interested in making a movie about how people treat each other like things, and all kinds of media can contribute to that. I’ve been working as an actor since I was a little kid, and I’ve always been fascinated, and a little horrified, by the way people relate to images they see on screen. Sometimes I feel I am seen as a thing more than a person, and I don’t think that’s unique to actors. I think everyone is subject to that kind of pigeonholing.
In his new film “Don Jon” (which looks so good), Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays someone a lot of us probably know in real life: a guy who has unrealistic expectations about sex and intimacy from watching a lot of porn. Even though I would argue there’s a significant difference in the way objectification works in the largely female industry versus in Hollywood, I can appreciate what JGL has to say to OUT magazine about objectification here. And the fact that his co-star is Scarlette Johansson, fixture of many a spank bank, will hopefully provoke some thought. Unrelated, but I think his response to tabloid gossip about his sexuality really classy: “That would be really tacky – they would win if I had to clarify.” Truth. [OUT]
My boyfriend’s back! No, not my real boyfriend, but my fantasy magical unicorn boyfriend, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This time, he’s beefed up and thrown on a real thick Jersey accent to play the title character in “Don Jon,” a movie about a porn-addicted goomba who falls in love with a slightly questionable bangin’ Jerz chick (played by Scarlett Johannson). Can the love of a good woman get him to change his ways? (Spoiler alert: duh.) Both are playing a bit against type, which should be fun to watch. So check out the trailer for the movie — which JGL also wrote and directed — if only to see JGL sing along to Marky Mark’s “Good Vibrations.” Funky bunch, indeed. [YouTube]
I guess sometime in the heyday of his “3rd Rock From The Sun” career, Fantasy Boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a stint on “Celebrity Jeopardy.” The oft-maligned “Celeb Jeopardy” gave young JGL the opportunity to wax philosophical on his favorite book, cult teen classic “Catcher in the Rye.” Of course JGL loves “Catcher in the Rye.” Of course. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who formerly occupied a large part of my heart space that is now taken up with Nicholas Hoult, appeared on “Sesame Street” recently, to discuss the finer points of the word “reinforce” with a puppet friend named Murray (Jewish puppet?). To demonstrate the meaning of the word, JGL sacrifices his wristwatch to the wiles of Murray’s hammer, and does some Oscar-worthy acting in the process. [YouTube]
We already knew Joseph Gordon-Levitt could dance, but we had no idea he could dance like this. The actor hosted “Saturday Night Live” this weekend and took on pal Channing Tatum’s stripper moves for his opening monologue. Way to drop it like it’s hot, Joe. Apparently, however, NBC wasn’t too thrilled with the skit, as they cut it from the full episode streaming online. No worries — we clipped it for you! Check it out above, then some GIFs of JGL bumpin’ and grindin’ after the jump…. Keep reading »
The last time Joseph Gordon-Levitt hosted “Saturday Night Live,” he performed a musical number and did a righteous backflip during his opening monologue. Oh yeah, and Number #1 Fan Julie Gerstein was in the country to watch him on TV. Not this time! JG is on vacay while JGL is on “SNL,” but hopefully she’s got it on her TiVo. OK, TTYL. [NBC]
Julie is in Morocco this week, which means I’m covering the Aaron Paul, cute animal, London Fashion Week and Joseph Gordon-Levitt beats in her absence. So. Difficult. Speaking of JGL, here he is looking ridiculously hot in Flaunt magazine. I still don’t think he’s the “new Ryan Gosling,” as Glamour suggested, but I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers, that’s for sure.
Well okay, so he’s not exactly posing-posing for Playboy, but JGL is in this month’s issue, talking about coming from a showbiz family, and what he wants from a girl. (Answer: “You can’t meet someone and think, Do they have everything I want in a person? You just have to pay attention, keep your eyes open, listen to people and be present. I guess what I look for in a girl is someone who’s doing that too.”) Keep reading »
