The last time Joseph Gordon-Levitt hosted “Saturday Night Live,” he performed a musical number and did a righteous backflip during his opening monologue. Oh yeah, and Number #1 Fan Julie Gerstein was in the country to watch him on TV. Not this time! JG is on vacay while JGL is on “SNL,” but hopefully she’s got it on her TiVo. OK, TTYL. [NBC]
Julie is in Morocco this week, which means I’m covering the Aaron Paul, cute animal, London Fashion Week and Joseph Gordon-Levitt beats in her absence. So. Difficult. Speaking of JGL, here he is looking ridiculously hot in Flaunt magazine. I still don’t think he’s the “new Ryan Gosling,” as Glamour suggested, but I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers, that’s for sure.
Well okay, so he’s not exactly posing-posing for Playboy, but JGL is in this month’s issue, talking about coming from a showbiz family, and what he wants from a girl. (Answer: “You can’t meet someone and think, Do they have everything I want in a person? You just have to pay attention, keep your eyes open, listen to people and be present. I guess what I look for in a girl is someone who’s doing that too.”) Keep reading »
Okay, JGL, we forgive you for “misspeaking” and saying that pretty girls are rarely funny. Now come over here and give me a kiss. [Yahoo]
“She’s funny … and let’s face it, most pretty girls aren’t funny.”
–Joseph Gordon-Levitt, about his “Looper” co-star Emily Blunt. Blunt allegedly “bristled” at the comment, but JGL was apparently unmoved. You know what’s “not funny” JGL? Making blanket statements correlating one’s perceived attractiveness with their sense of humor. We’re so over. [Digital Spy]
Ugh, my Fantasy Dream Boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt is looking like a total tool these days. That’s because, I guess, he’s filming a new movie called “Don Jon’s Addiction.” In it, he plays a dude addicted to porn who falls in love with Scarlett Johannson so it makes sense that he’s overly tanned and bulked up, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino-style. As such, we’re probably going to skip it and watch “Brick” again.
As you know, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will always be My Ultimate Fantasy Famous Dude Boyfriend. But that doesn’t mean that I’m exactly stoked with some of his movie choices lately. First, there’s his forthcoming movie “Premium Rush,” in which he stars a bike messenger on the run — it looks totally crap. And now comes word that he’s going to be involved in a remake of the 1986 classic film “Little Shop of Horrors.” The original, starring Steve Martin and Rick Moranis, is kind of unbeatable, so the idea that JGL thinks he’s got the chops to produce and possibly star in a remake sounds a little arrogant to me. Do you think he can pull it off? [Chicago Tribune]
For the record, the upcoming movie “Premium Rush” — about what appears to be parody of a bike messenger — looks kind of terrible. But it stars My Fantasy Dream Boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt, so I’ll have to watch it on DVD eventually. But here’s a breakdown of his hipster tendencies in the movie (and hey, probably in real life) anyway. [NYMag.com]
There are two camps in The Frisky office — the Goslingites [Ahem, see the reasons to love him, below. -- Editor] and the JGL-ers. I happen to fall squarely in the latter camp — and so I’m thrilled that today is Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s 31st birthday. Never change, JGL! In honor of his birthing day, I’ve assembled a list of 31 reasons we love JGL. Get on board, why don’t you?
You guys know I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt, right? Like, love-love. However, I must say, this latest spate of cute videos of JGL singing might just have pushed me over the edge from love to hate. Like, stop being so great, guy. It’s too much. I can’t keep up. If my fantasy that we will one day end up together is going to come true, he’s going to have to get just a little bit more mediocre. Here, JGL does his rendition of “Hey Jude” at a Hit RECord event at the Sundance Film Festival. Ugh. [YouTube]
