My boyfriend’s back! No, not my real boyfriend, but my fantasy magical unicorn boyfriend, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This time, he’s beefed up and thrown on a real thick Jersey accent to play the title character in “Don Jon,” a movie about a porn-addicted goomba who falls in love with a slightly questionable bangin’ Jerz chick (played by Scarlett Johannson). Can the love of a good woman get him to change his ways? (Spoiler alert: duh.) Both are playing a bit against type, which should be fun to watch. So check out the trailer for the movie — which JGL also wrote and directed — if only to see JGL sing along to Marky Mark’s “Good Vibrations.” Funky bunch, indeed. [YouTube]
I guess sometime in the heyday of his “3rd Rock From The Sun” career, Fantasy Boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a stint on “Celebrity Jeopardy.” The oft-maligned “Celeb Jeopardy” gave young JGL the opportunity to wax philosophical on his favorite book, cult teen classic “Catcher in the Rye.” Of course JGL loves “Catcher in the Rye.” Of course. [YouTube]
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who formerly occupied a large part of my heart space that is now taken up with Nicholas Hoult, appeared on “Sesame Street” recently, to discuss the finer points of the word “reinforce” with a puppet friend named Murray (Jewish puppet?). To demonstrate the meaning of the word, JGL sacrifices his wristwatch to the wiles of Murray’s hammer, and does some Oscar-worthy acting in the process. [YouTube]
We already knew Joseph Gordon-Levitt could dance, but we had no idea he could dance like this. The actor hosted “Saturday Night Live” this weekend and took on pal Channing Tatum’s stripper moves for his opening monologue. Way to drop it like it’s hot, Joe. Apparently, however, NBC wasn’t too thrilled with the skit, as they cut it from the full episode streaming online. No worries — we clipped it for you! Check it out above, then some GIFs of JGL bumpin’ and grindin’ after the jump…. Keep reading »
The last time Joseph Gordon-Levitt hosted “Saturday Night Live,” he performed a musical number and did a righteous backflip during his opening monologue. Oh yeah, and Number #1 Fan Julie Gerstein was in the country to watch him on TV. Not this time! JG is on vacay while JGL is on “SNL,” but hopefully she’s got it on her TiVo. OK, TTYL. [NBC]
Julie is in Morocco this week, which means I’m covering the Aaron Paul, cute animal, London Fashion Week and Joseph Gordon-Levitt beats in her absence. So. Difficult. Speaking of JGL, here he is looking ridiculously hot in Flaunt magazine. I still don’t think he’s the “new Ryan Gosling,” as Glamour suggested, but I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers, that’s for sure.
Well okay, so he’s not exactly posing-posing for Playboy, but JGL is in this month’s issue, talking about coming from a showbiz family, and what he wants from a girl. (Answer: “You can’t meet someone and think, Do they have everything I want in a person? You just have to pay attention, keep your eyes open, listen to people and be present. I guess what I look for in a girl is someone who’s doing that too.”) Keep reading »
Okay, JGL, we forgive you for “misspeaking” and saying that pretty girls are rarely funny. Now come over here and give me a kiss. [Yahoo]
“She’s funny … and let’s face it, most pretty girls aren’t funny.”
–Joseph Gordon-Levitt, about his “Looper” co-star Emily Blunt. Blunt allegedly “bristled” at the comment, but JGL was apparently unmoved. You know what’s “not funny” JGL? Making blanket statements correlating one’s perceived attractiveness with their sense of humor. We’re so over. [Digital Spy]
Ugh, my Fantasy Dream Boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt is looking like a total tool these days. That’s because, I guess, he’s filming a new movie called “Don Jon’s Addiction.” In it, he plays a dude addicted to porn who falls in love with Scarlett Johannson so it makes sense that he’s overly tanned and bulked up, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino-style. As such, we’re probably going to skip it and watch “Brick” again.
