The cast of “The Breakfast Club,” minus Emilio Estevez and John Hughes (who died recently), got together on Monday night for a screening to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary. Ally Sheedy even brought her 16-year-old daughter to watch it with her. Wait. Has it really been 25 years since “The Breakfast Club” came out? I may be getting old, but this movie never will. The Brat Pack may have hit the big screen before I hit the world, but they had a big effect on my adolescence, nonetheless. I went through a stage in middle school where I wore my “Breakfast Club” shirt on a weekly basis, fantasized about a young John Cusack, and hoped I would meet my Jake Ryan. Brat Pack films captured the undesirable moments of being teen in a magical way. A lot of you probably agree with me. That’s why author Susannah Gora has written a new book, You Couldn’t Ignore Me If You Tried: The Brat Pack, John Hughes and Their Impact on a Generation, which comes out this week. In the coming days, many people will write touching tributes about John Hughes, the director of seminal ’80s movies “The Breakfast Club,” “Sixteen Candles,” “Pretty In Pink,” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” who died yesterday from a heart attack at the age of 59. But I’m sure none will be as moving as the one written by Alison Byrne Fields, his fan-turned-pen-pal. From 1985-87, Alison and Hughes wrote to each other often, her impact on him perhaps as vital as his impact on her.   • Jennifer Aniston won an iParenting Award for narrating a children’s book with her father. Loukoumi’s Good Deeds was granted the media award in the “Outstanding” category. [Us Magazine] – Congrats Jen, but still confused that a single, childless actress won an award for parenting.
