“I cannot believe that a Frenchman visiting Kiev went back home and told his colleagues he discovered something and didn’t say he discovered the most beautiful women in the world. That’s my observation.” – Vice President Joe Biden
Now, our Vice President is known for having foot-in-mouth disorder, but this little quote in particular icks me out. For starters, it’s kind of un-patriotic. I don’t think that American women are the most beautiful in the world, but it’s not my job to think or say so. But as VP, if Joe Biden feels the need to talk about the “most beautiful” anything, he should really stick to the good ol’ U.S. of A. Really, I don’t want my VP ogling the ladies when he goes abroad and if he’s going to, he should do so subtly and keep his observations to himself. The fashion industry, which employs a bevy of Ukrainian models, already does more than enough to make the Average Jane feel inferior next to ladies like Dasha Astafieva. Although the presidential election is less than a month away, Senator Joe Biden has been looking more tranquil lately. He and Senator Barack Obama are ahead in the polls, but I seriously doubt that they are resting easy until November 4. So what could have Biden looking a little more calm and less wrinkled? Last night’s Vice-Presidential debate was some good TV! The back-and-forths between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin were perhaps a little more restrained than we expected or hoped for, but they both definitely made an impression. Palin especially, who had a series of bad interview clips with Katie Couric making the rounds in the days leading up to the debate. While she was clearly rehearsed and prepared, there were some great Palin moments that stuck out as especially memorable for this fanatic. Those, after the jump… [CNN Debate Transcript]

When Sarah Palin addressed the nation last week at the RNC, the first female Republican VP candidate introduced a topic to the campaign I doubt most people ever saw coming. This week, it isn’t off-shore drilling, the war in Iraq, or even abortion rights that people are talking about, it’s lipstick. Thanks to Palin, we now know it’s what separates the hockey moms from the pit bulls, but as Obama reminded us a few days ago, lipstick won’t stop a pig from being a pig, a remark that’s prompted a heated debate and even brand new political ads. Surely, with all this focus on lipstick, it’s just a matter of time before someone comes out with one named after Palin. But why stop with just her? Why not introduce a whole lipstick line for Campaign ’08 ? I can see it now — we’ll have… Keep reading »
During last night’s surprise appearance by Barack Obama at the third night of the Democratic National Convention, we totally did a double-take when we saw the dashing Senator from Illinois plant a big one on Jill Biden, the wife of his running mate, Joe Biden. Was it on purpose and platonic mouth kisses are suddenly the new show of affection in Washington, or was it an accident? Who knows, but certainly the accidental mouth kiss is something we’ve all endured… Keep reading »
Now that Barack Obama has chosen Joe Biden as his running mate — and he’s due to speak tonight at the DNC — we decided to indulge our curiosity about his wife Jill. Is she as awesome as Michelle? Does she have a steely stare like Cindy McCain? Does she appreciate a pantsuit? Here’s the scoop on the potential Mrs. Vice-President.
FAMILY: Born Jill Jacobs in 1951, Jill is actually Joe Biden’s second wife. His first wife, Neilia died in a car accident, along with their baby daughter Naomi, in 1972, shortly after he was elected to the Senate. Joe Biden was actually sworn into office at the bedside of his young son Beau, who was also injured in the crash. Five years later, Jill and Joe were married in the Roman Catholic Church. The two met after he saw her picture in a local paper, and by coincidence his brother set him up with her. Jill raised his boy Beau and Robert as if they were her own — the two even included the boys in the wedding ceremony and took them on the honey moon — and also welcomed daughter Ashley. They now also are grandparents to five and live in Biden’s state of Delaware. Joe Biden is known for making the long commute from D.C. to Delaware every night to be with his family.
