Obama And Biden Address The Nation About Violence Against Women

I know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But the 10th month of the year is another time for reflection on an issue that doesn’t get quite the attention it deserves: Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Frisky has been re-posting some of our past content by our contributor Judy McGuire, a domestic abuse survivor, but we were pleased to see it’s being addressed on a national level, as well.

Today at the White House, Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama made remarks about violence against women, which I’ve transcribed a bit after the jump: Keep reading »

Why I Don’t Want Hillary Clinton For Vice President

hillary clinton photo

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may trade places with Vice-President Joe Biden on the 2012 election ticket, veteran journalist Bob Woodward said yesterday. “President Obama needs some of the women, Latinos, retirees that she did so well with during the 2008 primaries,” Woodward told CNN yesterday, adding that the switcheroo is “on the table.” Did Woodward pull this speculation out of his ass? Who knows. But if Hillary Clinton did run as Obama’s #2 and he was re-elected, she would become the first-ever female VP in history.

You know what? As cool as it would be to have a woman as VP, I don’t want Hillary Clinton to run. Keep reading »

Joe Biden Criticized For Overtly Sexual Hennessy Ads, Kinda

It truly hurts how painfully awesome The Onion continues to be, and their spoof videos are even better than their articles since they require the reporters to keep a straight face while delivering the news. In this week’s spoof, Vice President Joe Biden got a lot of crap for starring in sexy Hennessy ads. According to a faux Hennessy spokesman, “Biden’s sly trademark grin and international playboy status made him the perfect face for the luxury brand.” Word. I think it’s about time Joe “Silver Fox” Biden gets a little attention; Obama isn’t the only hottie in Washington D.C.! [The Onion]

Joe Biden Has A Thing For Ukrainian Women

“I cannot believe that a Frenchman visiting Kiev went back home and told his colleagues he discovered something and didn’t say he discovered the most beautiful women in the world. That’s my observation.” – Vice President Joe Biden

Now, our Vice President is known for having foot-in-mouth disorder, but this little quote in particular icks me out. For starters, it’s kind of un-patriotic. I don’t think that American women are the most beautiful in the world, but it’s not my job to think or say so. But as VP, if Joe Biden feels the need to talk about the “most beautiful” anything, he should really stick to the good ol’ U.S. of A. Really, I don’t want my VP ogling the ladies when he goes abroad and if he’s going to, he should do so subtly and keep his observations to himself. The fashion industry, which employs a bevy of Ukrainian models, already does more than enough to make the Average Jane feel inferior next to ladies like Dasha Astafieva. Biden Injects Some Tranquility Into The Campaign

Although the presidential election is less than a month away, Senator Joe Biden has been looking more tranquil lately. He and Senator Barack Obama are ahead in the polls, but I seriously doubt that they are resting easy until November 4. So what could have Biden looking a little more calm and less wrinkled? VP Debate: 15 Random Things We Noticed About Sarah Palin

Last night’s Vice-Presidential debate was some good TV! The back-and-forths between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin were perhaps a little more restrained than we expected or hoped for, but they both definitely made an impression. Palin especially, who had a series of bad interview clips with Katie Couric making the rounds in the days leading up to the debate. While she was clearly rehearsed and prepared, there were some great Palin moments that stuck out as especially memorable for this fanatic. Those, after the jump… [CNN Debate Transcript]
