At first I was a little concerned about Emma Stone’s first song choice in last night lip sync battle against Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.” Blues Traveler? Really? But I forgot about the rap breakdown on “Hook,” and how ridiculous it is, so maybe Emma was on to something. Jimmy started off slow with Iggy Azalea, but Styx’s “Mr. Roboto” was a worthy second choice. But Emma reigned triumphant with her second song, “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled, totally nailing the Ludacris rap. You know what I would like to see next? An all-stars battle between Emma and Paul Rudd. Make it happen, Fallon. [HyperVocal]
MC BriWi, I mean, newsman Brian Williams dropped his sixth rap on “The Tonight Show” last night, adding Snoop’s “Gin and Juice” to his growing catalogue of ’90s hip-hop covers. That is, Jimmy Fallon’s wolf-eared editors pieced together bits of Williams’ newscasts into yet another flawless mashup. G’s up, hoes down, while you motherfuckers bounce to this! [HyperVocal]
Last night on “The Tonight Show,” host Jimmy Fallon continued to just slay at putting his celeb guests to work. This time, Fallon and guest Stevie Nicks recreated Nicks’ 1981 hit “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” with Fallon embodying the role of Stevie’s original duet partner, Tom Petty. Watch above and check out the original music video after the jump! Keep reading »
I’ll be honest. I wanted to hate this so much. First, while I’m not a card-carrying Hathahater, like many, I do find Anne Hathaway’s carefully crafted ladylike-ness to be grating at times. Second, I have pretty much hated musical theater ever since I was a shy teen dodging jazz hands at a performing arts high school. And lastly, hip-hop is my favorite genre of music, so naturally, the idea of prissy jazz hands Anne Hathaway belting out Broadway versions of Snoop’s “Gin and Juice” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” kind of sounded like torture. But … it isn’t? In fact it’s really kind of hilarious and endearing and silly? You win, Hathaway. YOU WIN.
Ugh, you know how when people get back from vacation, they always want to show you photos of all the amazing things they did and places they visited and food they ate, and inside, you’re all, “Thanks, but no thanks, your vacay photos are really only interesting to you.” But you still look at all of their damn pictures because you know you’ve asked the same exact thing of countless friends and family members who probably had very little interest in the amazing taco place you found in Tulum or the four millionth skull inside Paris’s Catacombs. I bring this up because I really think we should move forward as a society and all make a pact to stop expecting and asking people to show interest in our vacation photos. Unless of course Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon have photobombed your vacation photos, in which case, you have my undivided attention.
Last night, Adele Dazeem, the woman formerly known as Idina Menzel (heh), joined Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show“ to sing “Let It Go” from “Frozen,” which won the Oscar for Best Original Song on Sunday.
Along with the show’s trusty band The Roots, Jimmy and Idina rocked out with toy instruments, including but not limited to a lemon shaker, bongos, a Casio keyboard and blocks. Oh, and it still sounds pretty damn awesome. This should be definitely be included on some sort of bonus edition of the soundtrack. Who else is going to have this song stuck in their head all day?
