Today I spotted an item in The New York Post and could instantly feel her pain: Katy Perry attended some party this weekend and was so determined to wear her new Jimmy Choo Zap shoes, above (P.S. they’re $2,495 — if you manage to work your way up the waiting list), that she hobbled around the party in sample size shoes that were not one but TWO sizes too small. Honestly, I don’t know how she did it, because I recently had a serious problem navigating a half size too small.
See, I’ve fantasized about finding the perfect pair of nude heels (big dreams!) ever since I figured out what a genius styling trick they are … Keep reading »
If you can afford it, you can now run in your Choos. Here’s a first look at Jimmy Choo’s much-anticipated sneaker collection, and the designs are definitely showy. Far from athletic wear, the kicks sport snakeskin textures, metallic hues, gold hardware, and a few models take it up a notch with a high-top. They’re actually … kind of masculine now that we’re getting a good look.
Think these $600 sneakers will fly off the shelves? [HighSnobette]

Tamara Mellon, the co-founder and president of Jimmy Choo, let scandal-bound photographer Terry Richardson shoot her in the nude (besides a pair of Choos, of course) for Interview. When was the last time you saw a company’s top brass tout the brand while wearing nothing? “I wonder what they’ll say at the next board meeting,” Tamara told the magazine. She also defended Jimmy Choo’s collaboration with Uggs. “I think Ugg is still relevant,” she said. “The thing about Ugg is that everybody has a pair in their closet.” When the interviewer said she didn’t own a pair, Tamara replied, “I bet you’ll wear the Jimmy Choo ones! The thing about Uggs is that they’re so comfortable. Once you’ve worn them, you don’t want to go back.” [NSFW: Interview via Huffington Post] Keep reading »
Sneakers are supposed to be less expensive than your fancy-schmancy heels, right? Well, it would depend on just how much you want your comfy kicks to make a statement. We already knew that Jimmy Choo was making sneakers, but did you know they were $600 a pop? We have no doubt that the wealthy and celebs will willingly drop that much (we know that Michelle Obama already does this). Yet the trendy sneaker market seems to be getting more pricey in general, in part due to the resurgence of the ’80s basketball trainer as a fashion item (thanks, Kanye). Remember the days when you could spend $40 for a cute and colorful pair? Now, even we admit that we’ve on occasion spent over $100 for some very chic sneakers that we felt we just had to have.
What about you—if you fall in love with a pair of sneaks, how much will you spend on them? How much is just too much? [Times Online] Keep reading »
Jimmy Choo has been in the news a lot recently, but not for the brand’s stunning high heels. There’s the fragrance, H&M collab, and along with the news that “ChUggs” are currently in production comes a first image of Jimmy Choo sneakers. Yes, sneakers. Everyone’s toes need a bit of a break from the sky-scraping heights of stilettos, don’t they? We say: how thoughtful of Choo. As part of the pre-fall 2010 collection, eight pairs of sneakers will be released in low and high top form. Of course, the trademark snakeskin will make an appearance, along with a suede version, meaning these are way more of a dress-up style. You weren’t expecting the tennis shoes to be gym-style, were you? [Elle UK] Keep reading »
