While I love clothes, spend way too much time pinning shit I cannot afford on Pinterest and love assembling fake outfits in Photoshop for regular style features like One Times Three and Fashion Math, I do not consider myself a fashion person. That’s probably why writing about my favorite shows at New York Fashion Week always results in me using and abusing the English language because I don’t know how to do so in a way that doesn’t sound ridiculous. For example, the headline on this post about Jill Stuart’s runway show — “[a] feminine take on ’70s utilitarian cool.” I know what I mean – that the collection had some crunchy, granola, ’70s vibes, with both an air of practicality and femininity to the clothing — but goddamn is it hard to briefly capture in a way that doesn’t sound outrageously stupid. Too bad nobody banned her from the catwalk before she may or may not have butchered the house of Ungaro. La Lohan has reportedly been banned from Jill Stuart’s New York Fashion Week show after being labeled a “brand damager.” Apparently, Lindz is no longer worth the (possibly bad?) press she brings to an appearance. And as if that didn’t sting badly enough, her ex Samantha Ronson and designer-sister Charlotte Ronson won’t allow Lindsay at Charlotte’s show or after-party either. Sheesh, one minute you’re in, and the next, you’re so out. [OneIndia] Keep reading »
OK, well not exactly. But a bevy of Housewives did show up to the Jill Stuart runway show today, along with Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland (who touched up Kim’s makeup), Rachel Bilson and “Top Chef” judge Gail Simmons. Sheree Whitfield sat directly across from Caroline and Dina Manzo, so it was a Jersey/Atlanta face-off in the front row. Keep reading »
