Jessica Alba has two beautiful daughters — Honor, 4, and Haven, 1. As fantastic as she looks these days, however, you would never know that woman actually carried and gave birth to them. Her body is amazing. She’s not one of those celebrities who just magically bounced back to her pre-baby weight either. Instead she said it took discipline, and a special tactic that is questionable at best.
It was … girdles. In a recent interview with Net-a-Porter’s online magazine, she said she wore two of them day and night for three months. Day and night. “It was brutal; it’s not for everyone,” she said. “It was sweaty but worth it.” Girdles, seriously? That’s how she gets that bod? Read more on The Stir…
Don’t tell Gwyneth Paltrow this but there aren’t many differences between G and Jessica Alba these days. Both have lifestyles brands and both rarely act. Yes, G has that Oscar but is it as shiny when your career tapers off rather than continues to climb like Cate Blanchett’s or Kate Winslet’s? That’s another conversation for another day. The point is that since directing most of her energy to GOOP and her cookbooks Gwyneth has put herself out there to be compared to other celebrity moms doing the same thing. But in this business you’ve got to stand out. You’ve got to differentiate yourself to capture that perfect market and that’s exactly what Jessica Alba’s hustle is all about.
While out promoting her new book, Jessica Alba told “Good Morning America“ that she feels she’s more relateable than other celebrity moms who have more extreme lifestyles. “Alicia Silverstone is a vegan, so she’s the extreme side of it. Gwyneth Paltrow probably lives a very similar lifestyle, but I didn’t grow up with a bunch of money, so my tips are much more grounded: Repurposing things and making things at home.” Read more…
I used to get so excited when my mom would take me to the tiny JC Penney store in the next town over so I could get a new pair of Arizona Jean Company elastic waist denim shorts. Sometimes we would even stop for a Dairy Queen Blizzard on the way home. Best day ever. Jessica Alba took her daughter Honor on a very different version of a mother-daughter shopping trip this weekend, browsing a number of designer boutiques in Paris while wearing adorable coordinating coats, hats, and leather booties. So freakin’ cute. I wonder if Honor got a new pair of elastic waist denim shorts. Probably not. But I can dream. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
It’s not that we really want to cover Jessica Alba is Style Stealer nearly every damn week — but absolutely everything she walks out of the house wearing is damn near flawless. She wear a lot of basics but they always have a fresh spin. This coat, for example, has such cool details on the pockets and sleeves (alas, I imagine it’s designer and costs a pretty penny, so I got as close as possible), while her conservative satchel is taken up a notch or 10 with its bright red color. About six months ago, I made a somewhat ill-advised purchase of an expensive pair of wedge sneakers. I wore them a couple times and then they’ve been sitting in my closet ever since, even as wedge sneakers have become more ubiquitous. I just didn’t quite know how to wear them in a way that was casual and yet feminine. Seeing how Jessica Alba is wearing hers — with a menswear-inspired double-breasted coat, skinny jeans, and lots of cream — I think I finally get it. Check out how to get the look yourself, after the jump! Best of all, these sneaks are less than $40! Keep reading »
Jessica Alba does casual so well. Here she is, running from a breakfast date at Urth Cafe in Los Angeles, to the hospital (no idea why she’s going to the hospital) looking cool as ever. You can’t see it here, but the back of her leather jacket features a giant studded cross. We didn’t grab that exact one — I think it’s Balmain and a zillion dollars — but we did find another similarly studded jacket, along with all the other elements you’ll need to pull off this look. Check out our recommendations after the jump! Keep reading »
