Well, lookie here. “Mad Men”‘s next season is eons away, but at least a couple of the cast members — Jon Hamm as Don Draper and Jessica Pare as Megan Draper — are filming in Hawaii this week. So what can we infer from Don’s choice in beach reading? Nothing is done without purpose on “Mad Men,” so I’ve got to wonder what Don is thinking reading Dante’s Inferno. I was already kind of obsessed with Jessica Paré, who plays Megan Draper on “Mad Men,” especially after she did that little French song-and-dance number at the beginning of last season, but now I’m officially smitten. The actress sang with The Jesus and Mary Chain at a handful of gigs this past week, doing a pretty damn good job on their songs “Just Like Honey” (above) and “Sometimes Always” (after the jump). Maybe Megan should embark on a singing career instead? [Buzzfeed] Keep reading »
Art may be imitating life on the set of “Mad Men.” According to Star magazine, January Jones has an issue with Jessica Pare. “January is furious because she pretty much had no story line this season, not to mention that she had to wear a fat suit!” a source told Star. “Meanwhile, Jessica is an overnight sensation. … January is so completely jealous that she has been treating Jessica like complete crap.” If this is indeed true (and I have no trouble imagining it could be), it explains why they only had one scene together this season. No wonder it was so uncomfortable to watch — it was real. Well … maybe. [Celebitchy]
These two are hardly the first co-stars in history who couldn’t stand working together. Egos have been around forever. Click on to see more celebs who (allegedly) had major beef on set.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America bestows awards on new young talent each year and throws itself a major party. Last night was the big event, and designers and their fans turned out in droves to honor one another. And the winners are… Keep reading »
“I forget about them because they’re in my face and they do their job just great. I never get anything stuck in them.”
– “Mad Men”‘s marvelous Jessica Paré, on her signature gap teeth. Jessica also dished a tiny bit about the future of her character Megan’s relationship with hubby Don Draper, noting that “we all know this is not a show about Don Draper being a happy, healthy man.” Uh oh. [New York]
Jessica Pare and Zooey Deschanel were photographed for People “Most Beautiful” issue and holy crap. Mmkay, so can we all just agree that Jessica Pare should NEVER WEAR MAKE UP AGAIN? That lady is so friggin’ gorgeous it’s ridonkulous. And Zooey? Well, whatever. Fart fart fart. You either love her or think her bangs are a contrived way to drive hipster dudes completely insane. In either case, we can’t wait to pick up the issue (on stands now) and see more of these makeup-free portraits, shot by Ben Watts. Other famous faces featured include Lily Collins, Paris Jackson, Rose Byrne and Paula Patton. And keep clicking through this slideshow to see more stars looking lovely sans fards. How refreshing to see how gorgeous celebs are without their faces on.
Like most “Mad Men” fans, I was not sure about Don Draper boning, then abruptly marrying, his new secretary, Megan. I wasn’t surprised he got under Megan’s skirt so quickly, of course. But given Don record of getting the golden ticket and then discarding women, I puzzled over why he saw Megan as a keeper.
Sunday night’s episode let us see that it’s not just Megan’s beauty drawing Don in. She’s sweet with his kids. She knows how to manipulate him in his pissy moments. They seem to share a slightly sadomasochistic sex drive. She’s upbeat and positive and unlike his ex-wife Betty, she’s a career girl. (Well, a budding one, anyway.) It’s easy to see how Megan makes him feel young again. Call us officially “Team Megan.”
It seems like Megan will be sticking around — at least for awhile, Don is still Don after all — so let’s take a closer look at Jessica Paré, the 29-year-old (ukelele-playing!) French-Canadian actress who plays her onscreen. Keep reading »
“[The ring is] beautiful, and it’s real diamonds. Like 1.5 karats or something. The funny story about that is before I’d read the script, props had to measure me for a ring. So she came in and was, like, ‘I don’t know how to do this without giving anything away, but we still have to do it.’ I didn’t want to think about what it might mean. Until I read the script, I wasn’t believing anything.”
— One of our Celebs To Watch, Jessica Paré, might say she was just as surprised as you were that Don Draper proposed to his secretary, Megan. (Um, spoiler alert?) But the truth is that the “Mad Men” props department spilled the beans when they came by to measure her ring finger. [AMCtv.com] Keep reading »
