The 2013 Grammys were a weird affair, no? “Hosted” by LL Cool J, who was barely seen, and featuring way more musical performances than actual awards, the Grammys are a bizarre fete. Nobody really thinks they’re that on the ball or relevant, but still, we watch. This year, theere was fashion drama, as the Grammys sent out a dress code beforehand to make sure that nobody showed too much boob or butt during the broadcast. I can safely say there was no major nipple action, but after three and a half hours, I was glad it was over, if only so I could stop making that throw up noise every time fun. was on the screen.
Let’s look at some clothes, okay?
It’s hard out there for a pop star nowadays. Can you imagine being on stage in front of 10,000 people, singing and dancing your heart out, and trying to give good FACE at the same time? For the average person, that would be impossible. I can barely manage to look normal in my “What Are We Wearing Today?” photos. For the most part, pop stars like Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Miley Cyrus pull this off with epic fierceness, but occasionally — occasionally! — the camera catches them at the most amazingly unflattering moment. Here are 13 reminders that they’re only human…
With my pale skin, blonde hair, and ability to conjure mustard stains out of thin air, I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never, ever be able to wear white. Naturally, I’m totally entranced by (and a little jealous of) this all-white ensemble J.Lo wore to the Museum of Modern Art. With bronzed skin, shiny hair, and not a mustard stain in sight, the look is classy, timeless, and so, so pretty. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
According to The New York Post, the only thing Jennifer Lopez regrets is this People cover. Word is, she thinks the picture makes her look “old and haggard” like Betsey Johnson. What? Betsey Johnson? What? I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s certainly bizarre. The hair really isn’t working and why is she crouching in spread eagle? Despite the rumors that Lopez complained to People about her photograph, her manager insists that she was “very pleased with the cover photo.” Nope. Not buying it. [WOW]
In the ultimate mix of high fashion and low-budget, Jennifer Lopez goes right ahead and matches her sweatsuit to her Birkin. Post-capitalist commentary or just giving a long-awaited shoutout to “Jenny From The Block,” one can’t be sure, but J. Lo is definitely not the first to do it. You see this kind of thing all the time in Boca Raton. As for the high-low mix… I guess you could say the same about her and Casper Smart. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
One summer trend that’s definitely sticking around for fall (and hopefully forever?!) is the stylish high-top sneaker. Embellished with studs, straps, sequins, or a hidden wedge, a pair of edgy kicks can pump up the volume of any outfit. Looking for a little inspiration for how to rock your own sneakers? J. Lo really loves a jumpsuit. She wears them to perform all the time, and has now apparently taken her jumpsuit love to the next level. Here she is wearing this full-length pink monstrosity out and about in Manhattan. I’ve never been a jumpsuit fan because, hello, peeing. But also? This just seems kind of not that flattering for J.Lo’s bangin’ body. What say you? [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
