Quotable: Ben Affleck Is The Lowest On The Totem Pole In His House

“I just know what it’s like to be a serf that just does things. When one of the vassals comes and points at something … I take orders from people that cannot speak. And yet still they are higher up on the food chain than I am … I have three women in the house. I get to be wrong three times a day.”

Ben Affleck tells Ellen DeGeneres about life with wife Jennifer Garner and their two daughters, 4 years old and 20 months. Ruh-roh. Didn’t he hear buddy Matt Damon get his foot in his mouth talking about ducking punches from his wifey yesterday? But never fear. Ben also says, “I am madly in love. I have the best family.” [People] Keep reading »

Jamie Foxx Writing The Script For “Laverne And Shirley” Movie Adaptation

“Sclemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated. We’re gonna do it!” Well, actually Garry Marshall is going to do it — direct a movie adaptation of the classic TV show “Laverne and Shirley,” that is. For those of us old enough to remember enjoying the “Happy Days” spin-off when it originally aired from 1976 to 1983, or who caught it in syndication in the decades that have followed, this may come as good news. Or not. After all, when are movie versions of TV shows ever done well? And when I tell you that Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel are tapped to play the title characters, respectively, the news may make you shudder even more. But there’s a twist! The script is being written by the multi-talented Jamie Foxx, which makes me wonder if they might be able to pull this thing off yet. Time will tell, I guess. Still, I know Marshall could do better than casting Garner and Biel. Who would you like to see play Laverne and Shirley instead? TVGuide suggests Chloe Sevigny as Laverne and Ginnfer Goodwin as Shirley, which sounds like a good bet. OMG! What about Angelina Jolie as Laverne and Jennifer Aniston as Shirley? I’d pay to see that. Jennifer Garner Goes Sans Fards

The photo caption for this image reads: “Jennifer Garner seen out and about with no make-up.” If I looked that good sans fards, I would never not leave the house without makeup. [3/14/10, LA] Keep reading »

Will “The Bachelorette Party” Be The Female Version Of “The Hangover”?

Thank you for listening to us, Hollywood — The Frisky asked for a female version of “The Hangover” and you delivered. Sort of. See, neither Jennifer Garner, as the uptight bride-to-be, nor Anna Faris, as the cousin who was recently left at the altar and is now forced to throw someone else’s bachelorette party, were exactly what we had in mind. From what we can tell from MTV.com’s synopsis, their characters don’t really like each other; when Garner gets wasted and cheats on her groom-to-be, Faris debates telling him all about it. This woman-versus-woman “You’re getting married! I’m not! You bitch!” shtick is way overdone. It sounds more like “Bride Wars” than a female version of “The Hangover“! We’ll reserve our judgment until after seeing the actual film. But, considering the script is being written by the same person who wrote “The House Bunny” and “The Ugly Truth,” our expectations for non-suckiness are l-o-w. [MTV] Keep reading »
