I’m by no means suggesting that we abandon the skinny jean entirely, but wouldn’t it be nice to give baggy boyfriend jeans a try? I spent the entire weekend wearing mine and it felt like a vacation. BF jeans have been growing in popularity over the last year or two, but I’ve still noticed a resistance to them among my friends who associate baggy with dowdy. Not so! Slouchy can be sexy! And stylish! It’s all about how you wear it … here are three suggestions. Keep reading »
When I was a preteen, I made a purse out of an old pair of jeans and thought I was just too cool. Artist Ian Berry took things a big step further, using denim as a medium to make beautiful “paintings.” In a report by the BBC, Berry shows off his art. The designs look almost as if they’re paintings, but are made solely of jeans. Berry has exhibited his work worldwide, and was even commissioned by Giorgio Armani. Mind. Blown. [BBC]

Most of us who have dads are probably familiar with the concept of dad jeans, those super cool, light-washed, high-waisted jeans dads love to buy at JC Penney’s. My dad loves some Dad Jeans — his favorite varietal is a gently faded black jean that goes great with his plaid shirt of choice and an anonymous black shoe. And then there’s Dad Jeans in popular culture: Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Taylor from “Home Improvement” (worn with smug smile), or Louis C.K., an actual dad who is also a nerdy, funny, middle-aged man.
Suddenly, Dad Jeans Are A Thing, a thing worth writing about in the New York Times Style section. The renewed interest in Dad Jeans is probably attributable to one thing — the ever-snarling Ouroboros that is fashion. It’s so uncool, say Dad Jeans advocates, that it is suddenly Coolness Ground Zero and how could you ever not want to wear Dad Jeans, you cool-as-fuck hipster? Keep reading »
Celebs: They’re just like us! I mean, they own jeans, too. And sometimes, occasionally, they wear them in public and stuff. Over the past couple of days, Jennifer Garner, Hayden Panettiere, Sienna Miller, Jessica Biel and Alessandra Ambrosio have all been spotted out in their fave denim looks. While Hayden and Jessica stuck to a skinny style, Sienna wore a more (questionable) relaxed cut, and Alessandra tempted fate in white. Denim is basically the foundational fabric of the Great American Outfit, but even so, sometimes celebs can miss the mark. So who’s your fave?
