3pm: This post has been updated to include TMZ’s extended version of the video after the jump.
All is not as well as it seems in Beyoncé’s world. In a surveillance video obtained by TMZ, her sister Solange Knowles is seen punching and kicking Jay Z inside an elevator allegedly at some point after the Met Ball last week. The video, shot from above, shows Jay in his white tux entering the elevator at the Standard Hotel, with Solange getting up in his face and taking swings until she’s pulled away by someone who appears to be a body guard. It looks like Beyoncé is behind Jay and comes to stand between them at some point. It’s clear that the in-laws are exchanging heated words about something, but all the violence on the tape is coming from Solange. Damn, I would love to know what that argument was about. Sigh. Families. Keep reading »
Where Brooklyn at? No, literally, where Brooklyn at? Today, Beyonce and Jay Z officially announced their 16-date co-headlining “On The Run” tour, which kicks off in Miami on June 25, but my excitement was tempered by the realization that Jayonce would be skipping what I assumed would be a guaranteed stop — Brooklyn, New York, specifically at the Jay Z-owned Barclays Center. Instead, the closest show for us rabid followers of music’s King and Queen will be in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Wah. Anyway, this isn’t just about me and how the hell I can justify spending bank money on tickets for a show in another state. This is about you and how far you’ll have to run to see the “On The Run” tour. See all 16 stops after the jump! Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow at 8 a.m.! [I Am Beyonce] Keep reading »
I love each and every song on Beyonce’s recent self-titled album, but I have a special soft spot for “Drunk In Love,” her collab with husband Jay Z. I mean, it’s sexy, fun to dance to and hilarious. Surfboart? “Graining on that wood”? “Her breasteses are my breakfastes”? While the song is perfect as is, that didn’t stop Kanye West from trying to make it better by remixing the song with some of his own lyrical flourishes. Take a listen after the jump and let me know what you think in the comments! Keep reading »
When Amy Poehler and Will Arnett called it quits, I was totally bummed. When Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel were dunzo, I despaired. Don’t even get me started on Britney and Justin, whose demise I am still not over. With the devastating demise of Hollywood relationships, it’s easy to throw in the towel and give up all hopes of lifelong love. If the beautiful, talented and rich can’t make it work, what hope do the rest of us have?
That said, lasting celebrity romance does exist. And this Valentine’s Day, let’s see what Oprah dug up on what keeps some of Hollywood’s favorite couples going. She sat down to talk about the marriages of Beyonce and Jay Z, Tina Turner and Erwin Bach, Stephen Colbert and Evelyn McGee-Colbert, Magic and Cookie Johnson, and Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness. As the celebs talked about their ups and downs and what keeps their love alive, I may have teared up a little. At the end of the day, they’re just like the rest of us! [Huffington Post]
