“All that, I wouldn’t even speak on. It doesn’t even matter to me whatsoever, who would show up. Because the most important person to show up there, to me, was Kim. And that’s all that matters to me.”
Kanye West has a big, meaty profile in GQ and it’s filled with Kanye-isms about art, celebrity, happiness, Kim, North, and some weird tangent where he insists he is not a shark but a “blowfish.” But let’s get real — we wanted to hear Kanye clear up some of the rumors surrounding his wedding. No, he did not give a 45-minute toast to himself. No, there was no ”Gold Toilet Tower.” No, he did not saw up the entire bar apart in front of the Italian construction team who had just built it. But the rumor we really wanted addressed was why Jay and Bey completely bailed on the wedding. And Kanye’s response is pretty much: who cares? [GQ] [Image via GQ]
Oh for fuck’s sake, I guess I’m gonna have to pony up for tickets to Jay Z and Beyonce’s “On The Run” tour because, if the various photos and videos from the opening night in Miami are any indication, that shit is tight. Instead of doing two separate sets, the couple — who have been married since 2008 — took the stage together and alternated between their various songs, including a number of collaborations that they performed together. And, because the show is all about “celebratin’ love,” as Jay put it, they also showed never-before-seen footage from their top secret wedding. Check it out above! Click through a smattering of pics from the show below, and watch some more highlights after the jump!

Yeah, another Jay Z/Beyonce post — sorry not sorry! — but this one is necessary. Jayonce is about to embark on their coheadling “On The Run” tour so naturrrrraaaaaaalllly they had to do something big to promote it — like making an exhaustive trailer for a movie starring them that does not actually exist. Featuring cameos by super sexy bearded, man bun-sporting Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as Don Cheadle, Blake Lively, Rashida and Kidada Jones, “On The Run” is, as the trailer reminds us, COMING NEVER. But whyyyy? It looks better than most summer blockbusters.
Maya Rudolph made a cameo on last night’s “Saturday Night Live,” resurrecting her FLAWLESS Beyonce impression as she joined husband Jay Z and sister Solange to comment on their recent elevator fight scandal. The Standard Hotel is not going to be happy that the truth is finally out about what caused Solange to start flinging her limbs at Hov — who wants to stay at a fancy hotel with a spider problem?
The Standard Hotel employee who sold the security cam video of Solange Knowles and Jay Z’s fight to TMZ for an alleged $250K is not the only person hoping to profit from Elevator-gate. Designer Anya Hinchmarch, who made the handbag Solange used in her flailing attempt at fighting her brother-in-law, tweeted a new ad for the Crisp Packet Clutch, calling it “worth fighting for.” I’ll admit this made me giggle a little, but I also think it’s kinda gross to profit off of an inexcusable moment of violence. Even grosser: this stupid purse not only doesn’t come with potato chips inside, but costs a whopping $1600. DA. FUCK. [Naughty But Nice Rob]
The Knowles/Carter family finally released a statement about the elevator fight between Jay Z and Solange seen ’round the world. They provided no explanation other than something boring about all families having problems. While we wait on CNN to uncover the truth, we turned to our own resources. This definitive list of guesses about what was said inside that elevator was compiled by a close personal friend* of the Knowles/Carter family. Keep reading »
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.
Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.
The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false,” the statement continued. “At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
HA! Not likely. But I’ll try. Solange Knowles and Jay Z (and presumably also Beyonce) released an exclusive statement to the Associated Press about the now notorious elevator fight following the Met Ball, which came to light on Monday when security footage was posted to TMZ. To remind you, in case is hasn’t been playing on loop in your mind like it has in mine, the footage showed Solange wailing on Jay Z in an elevator as Beyonce looked on and a security guard tried to intervene. A whole mess of theories about what the fight could have been about have been circulating since and it doesn’t look like Solange, Jay or Bey is gonna give us any further details. Therefore, I shall continue to assume Jay farted when the elevator doors shut and Solange was not havin’ that. [AP]
