I love each and every song on Beyonce’s recent self-titled album, but I have a special soft spot for “Drunk In Love,” her collab with husband Jay Z. I mean, it’s sexy, fun to dance to and hilarious. Surfboart? “Graining on that wood”? “Her breasteses are my breakfastes”? While the song is perfect as is, that didn’t stop Kanye West from trying to make it better by remixing the song with some of his own lyrical flourishes. Take a listen after the jump and let me know what you think in the comments! Keep reading »
When Amy Poehler and Will Arnett called it quits, I was totally bummed. When Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel were dunzo, I despaired. Don’t even get me started on Britney and Justin, whose demise I am still not over. With the devastating demise of Hollywood relationships, it’s easy to throw in the towel and give up all hopes of lifelong love. If the beautiful, talented and rich can’t make it work, what hope do the rest of us have?
That said, lasting celebrity romance does exist. And this Valentine’s Day, let’s see what Oprah dug up on what keeps some of Hollywood’s favorite couples going. She sat down to talk about the marriages of Beyonce and Jay Z, Tina Turner and Erwin Bach, Stephen Colbert and Evelyn McGee-Colbert, Magic and Cookie Johnson, and Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness. As the celebs talked about their ups and downs and what keeps their love alive, I may have teared up a little. At the end of the day, they’re just like the rest of us! [Huffington Post]
Last night were the 2014 Grammy Awards! As per usual, they went on way too long and featured a lot of awkward dancing from Taylor Swift. But Bey and Jay were there! And so was Lorde! And the Highwaymen! So it wasn’t a complete loss. Let’s review the best moments in GIFs, pics and videos… Keep reading »
By the looks of the new photos Beyonce just put on her Tumblr, Blue Ivy’s 2nd birthday party puts all of my birthday parties over the years to shame, and not just because I typically plan them the night before in a last ditch effort. There was face paint, and dancing, and the other two-third of Destiny’s Child was there! Blue even got her own car. I didn’t get my own car until I was 19 and it was used. Blue Ivy continues to live the best lifestyle. The rest of us will just have to live vicariously through her. (NOW UPDATED to include photos of Bey posing with animals!) [Beyonce]
Once upon a time, in the year 1997, a 28-year-old rapper named Jay-Z (when he still had the hyphen) sat down for an interview with former 2 Live Crew member Luther Campbell in his adult film series, “Luke’s FreakShow.” Though the pair of hip-hop heavyweights were supposed to be discussing, you know, music, Jay was noticeably distracted by the two women going at it next to him on the couch. (Very NSFW clip is after the jump.) Why are they there? Why not? is the question. Because when you’re Luther Campbell, and you’re best known for songs like “Me So Horny” and “Face Down Ass Up,” this is just how you roll. But I wonder if Beyonce has seen this gem from her husband’s past? If so, I bet he spent a night on the couch when she found out. (Again, warning: SO NSFW.) Beyonce and Jay Z’s little bundle of cuteness, Blue Ivy Carter, turns two years old today. Needless to say, in just 24 months, she’s had more fun than I have in my entire life. Let’s review just 10 of the reasons Blue has the best lifestyle… Keep reading »
The third video in her series explaining the making of her new self-titled album, Beyonce gives us some behind-the-scenes footage of her and Jay Z recording and filming the video for their duet, “Drunk In Love.” It’s so fun seeing Bey react to hearing Jay’s freestyle for the first time — she seems especially, uh, moved when he raps “hope you can handle this curve.” Oh, Mrs. Carter certainly can. Also, while I’m excited that she shouted out my favorite odd pronunciation in the song (SERFBORT forever!), I wish she had explained the line further. “Serfbort” is obviously “surfboard,” and when she says she’s “graining on that wood” she means “grinding,” but is she trying to say Jay’s penis is like an old-timey wooden surfboard from the 1920s as opposed to a more modern foam board? Also, do people actually put cigars on ice? Clearly I have spent a lot of time thinking about this song, but questions remain! Anyway, watch above.
The seemingly innocuous topic of Jay Z’s limited edition holiday collection in collaboration with Barneys turned rife with controversy in the past few weeks after the upscale NYC department store was accused of two separate racial profiling incidents in the last month alone. Everyone from Jon Stewart to Andre Leon Talley criticized the hip-hop mogul’s decision to go forth with the high-profile partnership, even after he announced that 100 percent of the proceeds from the collection would go to his Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation for low-income students.
