Since Hov only films six-hour performances with his fancy artist friends on special occasions (see: “Picasso Baby”) consider this just released video for “Holy Grail” to be the first true music video off his new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. The video features Jay and guest vocalist Justin Timberlake wandering around aimlessly in a poorly lit, gothic warehouse of sorts, where dancers wrapped in white sheets dance to the occasionally slowed down track. Justin really went to town with the flat iron, huh? There’s a champagne glass pyramid and an inexplicable fire too. Maybe Justin got mad that “Holy Grail” is better than every song on The 20/20 Experience so he got all mad and turned into “Firestarter”? Yeah, I said it. [Facebook]
Fun fact: Jay Z apparently did away with his Jay-Z hyphen around three years ago. Of course, most of us didn’t pay attention. We liked the hyphen. We wanted it at our parties and movie outings. The rapper made the name change official in June, following the release of his latest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. And finally, our little hyphen friend realized he’d have to look elsewhere for love.
So he did what so many have done before him, and sought out companionship via Craigslist: Keep reading »
As made clear by this photo of Blue Ivy and Beyoncé at the beach, Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s first crack at procreation turned out really adorable. Now 18 months old, Blue Ivy has been making more and more appearances, the best of which are showing up on Beyoncé’s official Tumblr. In a recent interview on Hot 97, DJ Angie Martinez asked Jay-Z if he would like to have more kids. His response? “Absolutely, God willing.” Jay-Z also recently founded a new sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, and he went on to joke that he wants to make his own “little basketball team” with Queen Bey. Sounds awesome, as long as he turns out to be a better parent-turned-agent than Kris Jenner. [Us Weekly]
“Even world famous rappers have first world problems,” says the tagline for this amaaaaaazing Tumblr, featuring illustrator Ali Graham’s depictions of Jay-Z’s imagined “99 Problems.” Click through to see 12 of our favorites — including “No Toilet Roll” and “Broken Umbrella (Ella Ella)” — and the rest over at her blog, which updates with new and hilarious illustrations regularly. Here are some typical 16-year-old activities: Riding in cars with boys. Sneaking sips from your parents’ liquor cabinet behind the garage. Cutting class. Buying prom dresses. Dutifully making SAT vocab flash cards in your room with the door closed. Standard stuff, really. Here’s something not so typical for a 16-year-old: producing a song on Jay-Z’s latest album. Meet Ebony Oshunrinde [Note: We've also seen her name written as Ebony.] a.k.a WondaGurl, the teenage Canadian with a producing credit on “Crown,” a slowed-down, dancehall-tinged track off Jay’s latest record, Magna Carta Holy Grail, which is out officially today. Check out the beat here and listen to her talk about how all this came about in an interview with MTV News, above.
She’s at it again! Amanda Bynes has hurled her favorite insult at two more famous faces. Yesterday, she went after both Perez Hilton (who has been writing on his website about her seemingly public meltdown) and Miley Cyrus. I’m not entirely sure why she is pissed at Miley, but I think it has something to do with Amanda finding Liam Hemsworth hot. Really, there seems no rhyme or reason for Amanda calling someone “ugly.” She just can’t think of anything else to say! Here’s a timeline of all those she has hit with the “ugly” stick in 2013…
That’s been the rumor for a few weeks, but now E! Online has gone as far as to confirm the news, saying that multiples sources have told them it’s true — Blue Ivy is going to be a big sister! Now, I’ll hold off on the mazels until we get official confirmation from Bey and husband Jay-Z, because I don’t want to jinx anything. After all, Jayonce and their brethren are among my primary passions in life, so while I normally get kind of annoyed/jealous when celebs in my age bracket or younger have multiple kids before I have one, I make an exception for my favorite celebrity super couple. Anyway, the countdown, ahem, has started for the Knowles-Carter family to confirm or deny this news! I’ll start chilling the champagne and titanium straws! [E! Online]
