I’m a lucky girl. Over the last, oh, 10 days, I think I’ve said, “This is the best day of my life!” at least a handful of times. First, when Wil Wheaton posted a link to my essay on writing “Star Trek” fanfic on his blog and said it was “fantastic.” Then again, when I went to an event featuring Cheryl Strayed, author of Tiny Beautiful Things and Wild. And again, when I went to hear Zadie Smith read from her new book, NW. Friday was another best day ever, as I had two psychic readings, both of which promised similar blessings ahead.
Saturday was the latest in this string of awesomely memorable days, because I went to see Jay-Z perform at Barclays Center (where his Brooklyn Nets will be playing). I’m already a longtime Jay-Z fan, but I was especially psyched because I had a gut feeling that if there was going to be a night when wife Beyonce would get up on stage with him, it would be this one, because A) it was the final night and B) the show was streaming live online.
