The Vienna Girardi and Jake Pavelka he-said-she-said battle has gone from 0 to 60 in the past 24 hours. The couple managed to grace the covers of 3 of 5 major tabloids this week. First Vienna went to Star, who supposedly paid her a whopping $90,000 for her side of the story—that their engagement was a sham, that Jake was cruel, and that he wouldn’t have sex with her—as she was packing her bags to leave him. In retaliation, Jake spoke to People, refuting her claims and saying that the real reason for the breakup was A) her hookup with Gregory Michael of “Greek” and B) her talking to Star behind his back. But what has me the most interested here is that $90K price tag. Is it ethical for tabloids to pay people of note for their breakup stories, especially before the breakup has even happened? Say what you want about the guy, but Bachelor Jake Pavelka is doing a hell of a job extending his 15 minutes of fame. After parlaying his appearance on Jillian Harris’ season of “The Bachelorette” into a gig as the next season’s “Bachelor,” Jake then worked his way onto “Dancing With the Stars,” and he didn’t stop there. Jake’s newest job is a guest-starring role on Lifetime’s comedy-drama “Drop Dead Diva.” Luckily, he won’t have to rely too heavily on any acting skills he may or may not have; he’ll play a suitor on the fictional dating show “Finding the One,” in which his character “spurns one bachelorette for another.” He begins shooting his scenes on June 18 ( to air Aug. 22), and executive producer Josh Berman says, “When we spoke about his shooting dates, he told us that he would be coming from Texas and could be on the set by noon. Since he was a former [commercial] pilot, he still remembered the flying schedule!” Wait, former commercial pilot? Last night, Jake Pavelka was ousted from “Dancing with the Stars,” ending his run on three ABC reality shows in a row. Maybe he should’ve undone a few more buttons? Oh wait. Anyway, today, he appeared on “GMA” to talk to George Stephanapoulos about it. Of course, Jake says that the “Dancing” experience has only made him and Vienna stronger. “Vienna has been amazing,” he said. “She’s been a cornerstone through all of this — cooking me breakfast every morning, she brings Chelsie and I lunch a lot of times — and I owe her big. She put her life on hold for me to do this and so I’m going to go romance my bride.”
Earlier this year, an ex accused Jake of being voraciously fame-hungry. And he gave a rather cryptic answer when asked if he was going back to flying. “You know what, flying, no matter what happens, will always be a huge part of my life,” he said. “You never know what door God’s going to open, but right now the plan is to fly airplanes.” [Reality TV World]
