Willow Smith, the 11-year-old daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, posted the above photo to her Instagram this weekend, and it appears as if the young pop star has a new tongue piercing. There’s certainly a possibility that she’s got one of those fake magnet piercings in her mouth and hasn’t actually been stabbed by a needle, but let’s assume, for the sake of debate, that it’s real. A person under 18 can’t get pierced in California without parental permission, and Will and Jada do seem like parents who try real hard to be “cool,” so I wouldn’t put it past them to allow this. (Especially if they subscribe to the Scientology belief that kids can basically do whatever they want.) However, this does seem like it would be a more extreme version of what Will talked about in regards to letting Willow shave her hair, no? What do you think — is 11 too young for a piercing? (Personally, I think yes. I also think tongue piercings are so ’90s raver. Sorry, Jessica.) [Dlisted]
I don’t usually have many feelings about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s style or, for that matter, Jada Pinkett-Smith as a whole. I try not to even think about Will Smith anymore because he just makes me sad. He is no longer the Fresh Prince I knew and loved — I thank Scientology. Anyway, “Men In Black 3″ (does anybody want to make an original film anymore or is it all sequels to sequels from here on out?) premiered in New York last night and Jada, who has made some fairly bizarre sartorial choices in the past, went for what I think is a simply gorgeous dress by Bill Blass. It’s a bit of a strain to see, but the entire skirt is sheer, with the opaque bodice and torso forming a sort of bodysuit shape not unlike Beyoncé’s Met Ball gown. I love everything about Jada’s look and I absolutely think she can pull it off, but I want to know what you guys think: is the sneakily revealing skirt totally appropriate or does it leave too little to the imagination?
That geeky girl in the floral prints and glasses from “Blossom” is dishing out sex advice? Damn, I must be old. Yes, Mayim Bialik has plenty to say about sex and she is dishing it out on Kveller.com, a Jewish parenting web site. With baby-making on the brain, Mayim quotes the Torah on waiting seven days, plus an additional five, for a woman’s most fertile time. It’s all part of being a good Jew, you see. ”Judaism loves love. We love sex. We are told it is a mitzvah to make love and to especially make love on Shabbat, when God’s presence is close,” Mayim explains. “A woman’s right to sexual satisfaction is detailed in her ketubah, her marriage contract, independent of pregnancy.” Keep reading »
Over the past two days, I have had the strange experience of watching a story blossom from a tiny tidbit into a juicy rumor via my Google Reader headlines. In each instance, the story started innocent, but as different websites composed their headlines, it got more and more salacious. Take for example, coverage of this video Jim Carrey made for Emma Stone.
Sure sounds like a game of telephone, no? After the jump, a look at how this worked with the rumor about Jada-Pinkett Smith and Marc Anthony. Keep reading »
“Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”
—Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith refute the report that circulated yesterday that they were splitting up after 13 years of marriage. So will this be one of those cases where the rumor goes away, never to be heard from again, or will this be a Nick Lachey/Jessica Simpson case where six months later they say initial reports were actually true? We shall have to wait and see. But I am betting $5 on Will and Jada making it work. [People]
After the jump, Trey Smith’s Twitter post on the rumors. Keep reading »
Looks like there might be trouble in Bel Air paradise. In Touch is reporting that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith are separating after 13 years of marriage and two kids together. For the record, neither of their reps have confirmed the story but In Touch says that the news comes from an insider. I’m crossing my fingers that it isn’t true because—TMI about their sex life aside—I like these two together. I like that they met when Jada auditioned for “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” back in the day, but didn’t actually get together until years later. If they’ve split, it would sure be ironic considering this quote from Will in 2008. “What I found is divorce just can’t be an option. It’s really that simple. And I think that’s the problem with L.A. – there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options.” Stay tuned for more. Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and basically their whole family (seriously, the kids and his mom too!) appeared on “Oprah” yesterday, which meant it was the perfect time to talk about the couple’s sex life. Again. Jada has a lil’ habit of oversharing about how she and her actor husband keep things, um, frisky. It always comes off as a little try-too-hard to me, like the couple is attempting to convince us of something — like, I dunno, that neither of them are gay, as rumors have often alleged? Jada Pinkett Smith didn’t make our list of “Sexy Celebs Who Can Go Braless” this morning, but she’s further proof that small-chested women can look stunning in v-necks. Her animal-print, polka dot hybrid gown is also beautiful with the red clutch that adds the right pop of color. [L.A., 4/17/10] Keep reading »
Is it just me or are Willow and Jaden Smith so much cooler than their parents, Will and Jada? [Hollywood, 4/5/10] Keep reading »
