Okay, the jig is up: the mastermind behind J. Crew’s consistent cool and bonafide style savant, Jenna Lyons, is fully aware that her look has become iconic. Why else would the creative director and president of the celebrated American company have sent a veritable mini-me boasting her own trademark groomed hair, thick dark-rimmed glasses, and orange-red lips down the runway at her own presentation? That’s right: one of the models from yesterday’s J. Crew show bore more than a passing resemblance to Jenna, though she insists it wasn’t intentional. I, for one, am totally in love with Lyons’ chic aesthetic, and I would gladly be her fashion lemming any day. Considering similar fashions were spotted on the Marc by Marc Jacobs runway as well, I’m definitely not the only one who worships at Jenna’s altar. What’s appealing about her approach is that, despite the covetable wardrobe and charmed life, it’s utterly accessible — you, too, can channel Jenna by making just a few simple alterations to your regular look. Hit The Hay In Style

Whatever happened to people heading to bed with style? One of our New Year’s resolutions for 2012 is to forgo the stained sweats and hole-y T-shirts in favor of a PJ set that actually matches. The kind of look we wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen in by a hot firefighter in the event of a building evacuation. You know? [$78, J. Crew]

Halloween Inspiration Board: J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons

Stupid Controversy!

J. Crew ad called blatant transgender kid propaganda! Read More »

Until this week, Jenna Lyons was best known as the president and creative director of brilliant brand J. Crew. Her charming Brooklyn brownstone was featured on Oprah back in 2010, and countless times in the pages of style and interior design magazines since then. She was the subject of some controversy after a photo was published in the J. Crew catalogue of herself painting her young son’s toenails hot pink. In the past couple of days, though, Jenna’s life has been at its juiciest. A thinly veiled blind item was published that outed her as being in the middle of a divorce from her artist husband, Vincent Mazeau. Even better, this same scandalous item suggested that she was now having a lesbian affair with another woman in the fashion industry. This morning, Jenna’s love interest was revealed: Courtney Crangi, who is apparently the sister of a celebrity jeweler. I don’t have much of an opinion on this. If they’re happy, I’m happy, and happy for them. However, I doubt this will be the last we hear of Jenna and Courtney. This Halloween — and frankly, her style could be emulated any ol’ day — get your hands on Jenna’s fresh, masculine style at about 50 percent less than typical J. Crew prices. Keep reading »

8 Lesbians Who Used To Be Straight

So, apparently Frisky office style icon Jenna Lyons is getting divorced from hubby Vincent Mazeau, after 10 years of marriage — and is rumored to be in a relationship with a woman. Says the rumor mill, the woman Jenna’s in love with is apparently also in the fashion biz, though we’re not sure who it is. Either way, that lady’s pretty lucky — think of the access she now has to Jenna’s sure-to-be-incredible closet! [Page Six]

If the rumors are true, Jenna is not alone in discovering she has a love jones for the ladies after having relationships with me. Here are seven other famous women who were a little late to the Isle of Lesbos.

Fashion Week Breakdown: Poppy Colors, Volume & One Very Hot Male Model At J. Crew
Well, imagine that. I have a total fashion boner for J. Crew’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Yeah, it’s basically more of the same from them, but the same is awesome. Fancy-lookin’ skirts dressed down by button-down shirts! Lady-like shapes unstuffy-fied (yeah, I made that verb up) by more colors than a bag of tropical Skittles! I’m in! Click onward to see some of my very favorite pieces and one gratuitous photo of a male model (center) I would like to make out with.

J.Crew Lets Its Hair Down

Take a close look at this picture from J.Crew’s website. Notice anything strange? Like, oh, the hairy-as-hell legs the model is sporting? We’re thinking the explanation could be:

A) J.Crew is finding its inner feminist (unlikely).
B) Some disgruntled graphic designer decided to play a prank on the company.
C) Somebody had a really dull razor the day of the shoot. [Dlisted] Keep reading »

Double Take: J.Crew Sells What?

We’re not ashamed to say we’re huge J.Crew fans. But from time to time, we come across stuff on the website that just shocks us and makes us think, What happened to our friendly, affordable, prepster retailer? Like this fuzzy purse, which first off, doesn’t look like your average J.Crew offering (we at first thought it was ghastly, but now we maybe think it’s absolutely fabulous). Closer inspection reveals that it’s a tote made of Mongolian lamb fur and costs a whopping $795! Here is our official plea to meet the person who has put in an order for this. We are dying to meet you. And maybe stroke your handbag. [J.Crew] Keep reading »

Quick Vid: J.Crew’s Charming Fall 2010 Collection

Why Is J. Crew’s New Laptop Case So Cute (And So Expensive)?

J. Crew has come out with this chic 15-inch laptop case, which you’ll actually find in the men’s section. Channeling that classic prepster style, the zippered sheath shows off a tan leather border with a choice of red, navy, or black for a main color. Unfortunately, the tech accessory doesn’t quite bring the J. Crew prices you’re used to—at $285 each, the cost seems uncharacteristically high. So, why? For starters, the goods are a collaboration with a Montreal-based luxury label called Want Les Essentiels de la Vie, but also the chosen materials sound ultra-fancy. The bag uses “the finest” 100-percent certified organic Turkish cotton, sustainably produced leather from Norway, brass hardware, and is reinforced with Teflon fiber.

So maybe you’re paying for what you get, but in the meantime we’ll be stalking the J. Crew sales before paying full price (please put these on sale, please!). [$285, J. Crew] Keep reading »

Let’s Hear It For The Boys (Wear)

Boys have all the fun. Their daily alcohol limit is three units (ours is two) and they get to pee standing up. And now, fashion is playing on the boys’ team, too! Kitsuné’s new collection has a total schoolboy vibe, the Olsens are about to debut a menswear line (and Ashley just did a menswear-clad photoshoot for V magazine), and Rihanna’s been sporting tuxedos on the red carpet. It seems everyone has gone boy crazy, so here’s how to rock the look. Keep reading »
