Yesterday, as a siege in Sydney, Australia unfolded at the hands of a lone gunman who took over a cafe and held over a dozen people hostage, “Fox & Friends” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck jumped at the chance to use the situation as a jumping off point to defend the CIA torture program — as if the two are in any way intertwined. After the show provided an update on the scene in Sydney (which has since resulted in the death of two hostages), she suddenly changed the subject:
“Meanwhile, the actual individuals here at home who have been looking into and trying to stop attacks like this and perhaps future hostage situations, as we are still at war indeed with ISIS and terrorism, are the CIA, and they have been painted as the bad guys at home.”
Oh, and then they cut right to a clip of Dick Cheney defending the torture program on “Meet The Press,” as if that has anything to do with anything.

Militants from ISIS, a.k.a. the Islamic State/ISIL (or whatever else you’d like to name the terrorist group that’s been wreaking havoc on Middle Eastern society and by proxy, much of the rest of the world), has kidnapped close to 7,000 Yazidi women and children within the past two months to be kept as slaves and forced into marriages with strangers. Many of those who were kidnapped saw their husbands, fathers and other male relatives murdered before their eyes. The victims, members of the Kurdish Yazidi religious group (which ISIS has heavily targeted), are from the Sinjar region of northern Iraq, an area that’s now been overtaken by the terrorist group. We’ll be the first to admit that we’re not big fans of Tyra Banks. We watch “America’s Next Top Model” like any other fashion, reality TV-loving girl, but most of the time we’re really annoyed by Tyra’s crazy antics. Today, however, we’re putting a shiny gold star next to Tyra’s name because she arranged for one of our favorite “ANTM” contestants, Isis, to have sex reassignment surgery. I blasted Tyra for using Isis as the “first transgender contestant” on “ANTM,” and then eliminating her for not being comfortable with her body. But at least Tyra is making amends. Of course, the big surprise occurs on “The Tyra Show” airing tomorrow because Tyra is a shrewd businesswoman. [Bossip] Keep reading »
