So, what are your plans this weekend? I’m going to work on my book proposal, maybe do a little reading, see a movie, perhaps get brunch with friends — oh, wait, NO I’M NOT. Because, as of midnight tonight, Angry Birds — the iPhone and iPad app that has already stolen countless hours of my time, not to mention eaten my soul — is releasing 45 new Halloween-themed levels. Productivity killed. I might need someone to pop by my apartment in a couple days to flip me so I don’t get bed sores and to remind me to stay hydrated. Keep reading »
It’s obvious enough that “old-fashioned” guidebooks won’t help if you’re trying to pack light. No matter what your destination is, there are about a million travel iPhone apps out there for you to choose from, but we prefer Wallpaper’s City Guides. Why? For starters, we prefer to cut down on costs by not depleting our data allowance while abroad. These guides are all packed in there, so you don’t need a 3G network to access the info. And it’s only $3.99, which is less than you’d spend on any book.
A new study done by the online dating site OKCupid found that women who have iPhones are getting laid way more than Blackberry or Android users. Even male users. On average, of the almost 10,000 people surveyed, the iPhone-toting ladies have an average of 12.3 sexual partners by age 30 while ladies using Blackberries have about 8.1 and Android gals have about 6.1. The male sex partner stats are respectively 10, 8.1, and 6. Wait, how is it that the ladies are getting laid more than the dudes? And even more importantly, when is AT&T going to end the monopoly so that we people, ahem, with other wireless services can get an iPhone and start scoring? [Fast Company] Keep reading »
It’s that time of year, ladies: heat waves burning across the continental U.S. and Leering McLeerers are coming out of the woodwork. (Or is it up from the sludge?) Not that McLeerers wait until sundress season to sexually harass women in public. Many is the man who finds something sexually foul to say when you’re wearing a down parka. A new iPhone app, soon to receive approval from the Apple app store, will let women in New York City chronicle their sexual harassment on a map. It’s created by the women behind the Hollaback! blogs, where women in cities across the country write in with their experiences of street harassment and sometimes even snap cellie pics of the douches who pester them. Welcome to Would You Rather, a game in which we concoct hypothetical style dilemmas and ask you to choose which option’s worse.
So, as we reported yesterday, some iPhone-obsessed chick shaved an Apple logo onto the side of her head. Which would you rather have—the Mactastic shave job or Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ balding ‘do? Since we kind of know which answer you’ll go with, we’ll make this challenge a two-parter: Which hairstyle would you rather see your boyfriend in? The comments below are waiting for you. Go! A hairstylist in the U.K. is so mad for her Apple iPhone that she had the famous apple logo shaved into her head. Whether we like it or not, hair designs are back and will probably be as annoying as faux hawks and mohawks. [West Sussex, 7/7/10] Keep reading »
Screw you, internetz, for providing so many opportunities to spend all of our money on shoes. First you give us online shopping, then come online sample sales, now Lustr’s new iPhone app, which sends notifications of nearby New York sales to your phone. Yes, it’s super useful, but it also makes it hard to concentrate on what you’re doing when, after stepping off the train in the East Village and finding that Alexander Wang is marked down 40% a mere five blocks away. We are not strong enough to handle the temptation. New Yorkers, download the new app here and count down until you’re broke. [Racked] Keep reading »
