What is it with creepy iPhone apps? I thought the vibrator iPhone app was pretty bad, but this, this really takes the cake. Using the microphone, accelerometer, and several other iPhone features, the new application Passion, which is now available in the iPhone App Store, apparently rates people on how they perform in the sack. “All you have to do is start the application, put your iPhone on the bed, in an arm band, or even in your pocket and have intercourse, it is as easy as that. Once you are finished, press the stop button and view your results.” Um, I think I’ll pass, thanks. When are people going to start developing iPhone apps we really want to use? The Art Lovers’ iPhone App

iPhone users with way bigger bank accounts than me, listen up: Christie’s (the fancy-pants NYC auction house) has a new iPhone app. Apparently, it “allows you to browse over 450 auctions in over 80 categories including all areas of fine and decorative arts, jewelry, photographs, collectibles, wine, and more.” Great news for auction-nuts, but one clarification—you can’t actually place a bid on anything from your phone. (Wouldn’t that be dangerous!? It would take drunk eBaying to a whole new level when a package arrives containing your new Paul Klee original, the painting you have zero recollection buying, even if your Chase account remembers!) More Mature iPhone Apps Coming Soon

Rumor has it that iPhone OS 3.0, which should be released this summer, will allow for more “mature” apps. Apple has improved the parental controls, which in theory will let parents better control the apps their children are able to download and the content they have access to on the device. Although the responsibility of content filtering will be on the parents, Apple may have to work in a ratings system so parents can judge whether their kids should be allowed to have a particular app on their phone. But don’t expect to be inundated with “adults-only”-themed apps. A ton of X-rated content wouldn’t necessarily fit Apple’s corporate image. [The Apple Blog] Keep reading »

Shake The Baby iPhone Game

Everyone knows you should never shake a baby because the baby can be seriously injured or die. But some idiot thought that shaking a baby until you kill it would make a great iPhone app. The Baby Shaker was available for 99 cents at the iPhone app store until it was removed Wednesday. The game shows a picture of a baby and plays the noise of a baby crying. Players had to shake their iPhone really hard until the crying stopped, and then two X’s covered the baby’s eyes, indicating the baby was dead. How revolting! Keep reading »

Love is in the air and on your iPhone. The phone that does it all has created some interesting applications to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Everyone knows about edible candy hearts, but now, candy hearts are virtual. The Candy Hearts app allows you to write a cute inscription to your loved one, up to four lines and you can pick any color to put them on. iFlirt is a little lamer, and includes pick-up lines, flirting and dating tips — just in case you’re still trying to land a Valentine’s Day date. iDesire will get you in the mood for love — just shake the phone to spin the wheel and perform commands on your partner, like touch kiss or lick your partner’s ears neck or cheek! [I really hope "penis" and "vagina" are among the body parts. -- Editor] Love quotes is the application to impress someone with your extensive poetic knowledge. Browse the library filled with romantic poetry and woo your significant other by quoting a few phrases. Obviously, if a drunk guy stumbles up to you at the bar on 2/14 and starts slurring Elizabeth Barrett Browning with an iPhone in his hand, you’ll know wassup. And my personal favorite, iPropose, lets you send your marriage proposal over the phone with a yes or no option.
