Goes Together Like Bacon And An iPad?

Should have seen this one coming. Seriously, what is it about the image of bacon that makes people put it everywhere—bras, iPod cases, masking tape, wallets. Is it because it’s retro? Or just oh-so delicious? Bacon is funny … but why? Truth be told, we’re rather into it, and could definitely jump into the frying pan with this bacon iPad sleeve. [Unplggd] Keep reading »

6 Must-Have Fashion Apps For The iPad

Not to sound like a whiny brat, but the Gilt app for the iPhone kind of disappoints. They meant well, but the small screen means it’s hard to pass judgment on tiny frocks under all that limited time offer pressure. Blessedly, a handful of iPad apps have swooped in to solve challenging First World issues like these with their awesomeness in the arena of style. (Of course, you need an iPad to start with, but I digress … ) Check out our favorites, after the jump. Keep reading »

But Will Those Louboutins Blend?

Almost as prevalent as links to iPad reviews are links to this “But Will It Blend?” video in which the geeky host takes a glorious iPad, cracks it in half and reduces the poor thing to dust in a blender. It’s the latest in Blendtec‘s series of “Will It Blend?” videos, all of which involve some sort of item that typically goes unblended coming into contact with a Blendtec blender and, well, existing no more. Since it was posted a day ago, this particular desecration of all that is holy in geek-land has been viewed nearly 1.6 million times. Apparently, people like to watch beautiful things die. So, in the comments, suggest a beautiful accessory to be put to Blendtec’s blending test and we’ll take the most popular suggestion, submit it for consideration and keep our fingers crossed that, some day soon, we’ll be able to watch a Marc Jacobs handbag reduced to dust. And hell, even if our deepest blending desires don’t come to fruition, it’ll be interesting to see which accessory inspires the most enmity! Keep reading »

Would You Be Into Reading A Fashion Mag On An iPad?

In an apparent bid to win over the droves of geeks and sleek tech lovers salivating over the iPad, magazine publisher Condé Nast plans to tailor the content of a few of its mags to work with Apple’s soon-to-be-released digi-tablet. Glamour, The New Yorker, GQ and Wired are the test magazines for the project, with April’s issue of GQ as the first to be fully digitized. Don’t know about you, but we’re pretty thrilled to hear this. Because the iPhone screens were far too small to compete with the look and feel of a real magazine and the Amazon Kindle and its peers aren’t even colored, this is the first time we’ll be able to see a really viable digital alternative to a traditional, bulky magazine. Now we can only hope that Vogue will make an iPad appearance before too long!

Are you as excited about this news as we are, or not so much interested in reading magazines on an iPad? [GeekSugar] Keep reading »

Where To Store Your iPad? In A Giant-Ass Maxi Pad, Of Course

Oh, shut up, Apple. You asked for it by giving the iPad a stupid name: Fab crafters HipHandmaids on Etsy have stitched up a $30 maxi pad-shaped “iMaxi” carrying case. The iMaxi, with a vinyl exterior and cotton interior, comes in white, red or white/red if you’re going for that “thank God I’m not pregnant” look. The HipHandmaids promise its the only iMaxi case you’ll find with wings. “It’s the perfect one-of-a-kind embarrassing gift for the Apple geek in your life,” they say. “Don’t be caught letting your iPad show.” Yes, we’ll just walk around in public with a two-foot-long sanitary napkin instead. MadTV Predicted The iPad Years Ago

You know how everyone has been going period-joke crazy since the announcement of the iPad, Apple’s new gadget? Well MadTV, that now-defunct “Saturday Night Live”-esque sketch comedy show, essentially predicted it in a skit a few years ago. Their “iPad” is a menstruation aid that links up to your computer, which frankly sounds more interesting and useful than this thing Apple has invented. Keep reading »

4 Ways The iPad Could Change Fashion

Admit it. Half the fun of getting your iPhone was shopping for cases and fingerless gloves afterward. So the Los Angeles Times makes a good point: What style accompaniments will the iPad produce? Two words: Big. Pockets. (Insert “Is that an iPad in your pants or are you just happy to see me?” jokes here.)

Scottvest, the maker of super-functional outerwear, is already on it, announcing “the first and only clothing line for the iPad.” The travel vest includes an enormous inner pocket, roomy enough to store the Apple gizmo. So, we had to wonder … what are some other ways techies will start toting? After the jump, three more scary possibilities.

True Confessions: I Married A Nerd

I love my husband. He’s a fantastic gent who makes swoon-worthy stuffed french toast, fixes my bicycle when it breaks down, and plus he loves me and stuff. But, when there’s a new tech update, I shudder. It’s a reflex. If only Steve Jobs could see what he did to me last night at the bar … Keep reading »

Introducing The Apple iPad, The Most Period-y Sounding Gadget Ever

I couldn’t care less about Apple‘s BIG! EXCITING! ANNOUNCEMENT! today, since I can still barely operate my iPhone. But it has come to my attention that Apple’s new gadget’s name — the iPad — is the most period-y sounding product name in history. (All right, maybe not as period-y as the iTampon. Don’t give them any ideas!) To 50 percent of the population, a pad is something you stick in your panties and bleed over before you toss it in the trash. In reaction, Twitter is abuzz with cracks about the iPad’s name, including my fave, “I hope the iPad has wings for extra nighttime protection.” Women who work at Apple, couldn’t you have talked Steve Jobs out of this grave sanitary napkin error?
