Inspiration Board: Retro Anjelica Huston

I didn’t become aware of Anjelica Huston’s fabulousness until she starred in the 1990 film “The Witches” and “The Addams Family” in 1991. But this model and actress has been mesmerizing audiences with her beauty and acting skills since the ’70s. I love looking at old photos of celebrities, and fell for this easy look Huston is wearing in the photo above. This fuss-free, casual look inspired me to find a slightly dressier option with silkier fabrics. Find out how to get it, after the jump! Keep reading »

Style Stealer: Solange At The Elle Women In Music Concert

Solange‘s ensemble for the Elle Women in Music concert in Hollywood wasn’t met with the best reception. I’m sure her bralette top has something to do with that. However, the ’70s feel of the high-waist pants, long cardigan, and floppy hat is right in step with the sophisticated bohemian vibe this season. Solange’s look would be completely wearable with a more substantial yet sexy top. See how you can recreate the look after the jump. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: “Annie Hall”

Diane Keaton’s look in “Annie Hall” is so iconic that even decades after the Woody Allen film premiered, her look is still wearable. There’s a reason menswear-inspired fashions for women is a cyclical style, after all. The “Annie Hall” look gives an air of confidence without looking as if you’re trying too hard. Here’s how you can get the look today. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: Katie Holmes’ Simple and Chic Look

Katie Holmes looks fantastic stepping out recently in NYC with Tom and Suri. Her pleated maroon pants are effortlessly combined with a Mandarin collar button-down and cropped jacket, and the lust-worthy shoes keep the whole look super fashion-forward. We’ve taken inspiration from this color-blocked look to put together one for you at the fraction of the price — including a designer item that’s on crazy sale. Take a look after the jump! Inspiration Board: Daisy Buchanan From “The Great Gatsby”

Hollywood is remaking “The Great Gatsby” and Carey Mulligan is set to play Daisy Buchanan, the attractive and shallow young woman who is the object of Jay Gatsby’s obsession. We’re truly excited for the 2012 version of “The Great Gatsby” because of its all-star cast, which includes Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role, and the 1920s-style fashions the film will bring back. But since we like to be ahead of the trends, here’s how you can get Daisy’s style right now. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: Borrowing From The Boys

Refinery 29 put me on to Street Etiquette, a men’s street fashion blog run by two gentlemen from the Bronx, Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs. These guys and the other stylish men they feature on their site have mastered the art of making retro-inspired clothing look current. And their accessories game is on point, too. I love a man who’s not afraid to wear jewelry–and I like the way they wear multiple rings, bangles/bracelets, and necklaces.

Sometimes it’s great to borrow from the men’s department, and I instantly fell in love with this look from photographer Kadeem Johnson, a friend of Street Etiquette. I knew I had to recreate it for the ladies. Only problem, though? It’s very difficult to find a maroon and blue stripe button-down shirt right now (his is vintage). So check out a similar look after the jump. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: Chloe Moretz’s Simply Chic Look

OK, so Chloe Moretz is only 13, but that doesn’t mean we can’t worship her style, which is quite mature for her age. Her look of a brown-and-black striped top and thick black shorts would be appropriate for a casual office, dinner with friends, or trip to the theater. So we just had to figure out how to duplicate the look. Get the deets after the jump. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: Kat DeLuna Goes Nautical In Autumn

A paparazzo snapped pop singer Kat DeLuna while she was taking a call in an NYC park. We’re loving how she translated the nautical look for autumn. Ground-grazing, wide-leg pants are so chic right now, and you know we love stripes and blazers. Plus, her huge hobo is perfect for a day of running errands, and holds everything you might pickup. Find out how you can get Kat’s smart look after the jump. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: Lauren Bacall

I was perusing a lifestyle blog yesterday and the subject of Lauren Bacall as a fashion icon came up. I’d heard the actress’ name thrown around with other style icons, like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, but I didn’t have a specific picture in my mind of Bacall. Off to our trusty photo agency, I went. While there were many photos of Bacall with husband Humphrey Bogart recording the program “Lux Radio Theatre” and attending industry events, I found the above photo most compelling. Bacall’s wry smile has just the right amount of cockiness to it. And she stands out from the background with a simple and chic pants outfit. Her smile would take practice to duplicate, but achieving a similar outfit only takes a few clicks of the mouse. Find out how to get this versatile look after the jump. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: June Cleaver

The woman behind “Leave It to Beaver”‘s matriarch June Cleaver, Barbara Billingsley, died this weekend at the age of 94. There’s not much of June Cleaver’s life that I’d envy. She had to clean up after three males, fix all the household meals, and didn’t even have Facebook or Twitter to turn to when she needed a laugh or felt lonely. The one thing I wouldn’t mind having of June’s would be her wardrobe — it would be so vintage and classic now. Since I’m not that lucky, check out the June Cleaver-inspired pieces (with a little flair) I found. Keep reading »
