Halloween Inspiration Board: Allison Dubois From “The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” (Plus 4 Other Reality TV Stars)

The best moment ever on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” was Allison DuBois’ (the woman behind the show “Medium”) dinner party cameo last season. ” In case you missed her appearance, she got trashed, puffed on an e-cigarette, and insulted pretty much everyone in the room. She taunted Kyle Richards with threats like “I know when your family will die.” Ironically, she failed to predict the Kelsey/Camille Grammer split and the passing of Russell Armstrong. Even though she made a total ass of herself, I hope and pray that she will come ’round again this season. To replicate Allison’s look, find out what you’ll need after the jump. And click through the rest of this slideshow for the other reality TV-inspired costumes we assembled this week. Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: FX’s “Archer”

Inspiration Board: FX's "Archer"
As the only girl in a group of fanboys, I’ve been introduced to more late night, adult animation than I care to mention. Sometimes I watch because I’m outnumbered, like in the case of Cartoon Network’s “Regular Show.” But other times I discover a comedic and entertaining gem like FX’s “Archer,” an animated series about the ISIS spy agency and its employees, who think of every mission as an opportunity to undermine, sabotage, and screw each other, literally and figuratively. There are three reasons I’m in love with “Archer.” One, it’s able to spoof both James Bond and “Mad Men” at the same time. Two, the animation appeals to my aesthetic sensibilities because it’s a cross between realism and comic book animation. And three, the characters actually change clothes, which in my mind is quite a feat in an animated series — I may be a slight fangirl, but most things in my life still come down to style. Which brings me to the main purpose of this slideshow, to get fashion inspiration from the characters of “Archer.” Since most of the action occurs at the ISIS headquarters, Archer and his crew can show us a thing or two about dressing for the office.

Inspiration Board: Wearing A Maxi Dress For Fall

Look at Olivia Wilde trying to be all incognito in the photo above. It’s okay, Liv, we’re paying more attention to your early fall look than you, actually. Why are we so smitten with her ensemble, you might ask? Well for starters, we’re suckers for stripe maxi dresses. But even more than that, we love that Olivia took a summer staple and made it appropriate for fall. The trick to successfully working a maxi dress for autumn is to have hints of skin showing while also adding rugged leather and suede pieces. That way you don’t look as if you’re trying to push the season too far or hold on to the last one. A word of caution, though: your leather items should be more boho than biker. Stylish Subculture: Surfing

Few sports have a more instantly recognizable fashion sense than surfing. Between the board shorts, bright colors, flip flops, and beachy hair, it’s pretty easy to spot a surfer–in or out of the water. Whether or not you have any intention of actually getting on a surfboard, the sport’s laid back look is always in style. After the jump, a few surfer-inspired pieces to add to your summer wardrobe… [Pictured: Carissa Moore at the US Open of Surfing] Keep reading »

Inspiration Board: Molly Sims Bright & Light Color Combo

Summer is winding down now, but we’re still loving bright colors. While the color-blocking trend got us to try wearing colors together, we still realize the impact of bold color with neutral cream. Just check out the photo of Molly Sims above. The tailoring of her orange-red blazer says, “I’m not to be messed with,” but the fluttering of her cream mini dress says, “But I can have fun too!” We took inspiration from Molly’s look, but tweaked it a bit, swapping the orange-red blazer for a coral one, and chose round-toe pumps over pointed shoes. See the look and get the details after the jump. Keep reading »
