n what appears to be a party trick gone awry, an Australian man suffered severe burns after he put fireworks between his buttocks and set them off.

Here’s something you might not know about me: I’m obsessed with white teeth. I’ve tried several at-home whitening kits from affordable Crest Whitestrips to the pricier Go Smile. But only Zoom Whitening, which I used under the care of a dentist last year, has given me the pearly whites I desired. Of course the system that gives the best results is pricey, so when I received a Rembrandt Two-Hour Whitening Kit in a gift bag, I thought it’d be a cost-effective way to maintain my white smile.
Here’s something else you don’t know about me: I have crazy chapped lips. I started using Blistex recently because it prevents chapped skin from forming on my lips and makes peeling off any skin easy.
But what happened when I combined the Rembrandt teeth bleach with Blistex? A painful chemical burn. Ouch! Keep reading »
Yesterday, Oprah did an ode to Australia, filming live from the Sydney Opera House. Hugh Jackman was one of the episode’s guest stars and he had a high adrenaline entrance—zip lining from the top of the Opera House down to Oprah’s stage. While the stunt went great during rehearsals, while actually filming, Hugh hit the brakes just a little too late, and swung up into the lighting rig, hurting his right eye. Paramedics rushed on stage and Oprah yelled, “Cut!.”

We were pretty sadsies earlier this week when we heard that TJ Lavin, the pro BMX biker who’s hosted a zillion “Real World/Road Rules Challenges,” was severely injured doing a stunt during a competition. Since the crash on October 14, he’s been in a medically induced coma, but has shown some signs of improvement. His hospital room has been filled with concerned friends and family members—including one of his best friends whose wedding party he was supposed to be in this weekend.

” night, party people! As I’ve told you 901 times
—this show has a special place in my DVR heart because it is based on a non-fiction book I wrote a few years back called Cheer: Inside The Secret World Of College Cheerleaders
. Also, the show is awesome. So I hope you’ll be watching tonight at 9 p.m.
In the first three episodes, we’ve seen a cheerleader—Alice—topple off the top of a pyramid and break her wrist. And we witnessed another—Savannah’s sister—slip out of a stunt and be hospitalized for head injuries. So, you are probably wondering, how realistic is this? Keep reading »
Poor Lindsey Vonn. She was on the top of everyone’s list of Winter Olympians to watch, and even graced the cover of Sports Illustrated this week, butt high in the air, next to the words, “America’s Best Woman Skiier Ever.” But, sadly, she’s injured her shin, suffering a deep bruise during practice a week ago that has made putting her ski boot on an “excruciating” endeavor. News of her injury has sent sports stations into a frenzy of calculations on how it will affect her. Vonn remains hopeful that she will be healthy enough for a medal-winning performance, especially since she was slowed down by an injury at the 2006 Olympics that her cost her a top-three finish. [USA]
Interestingly, a study was recently released showing that women in sports suffer more, and from more severe injuries, at least in part because most training regimes are designed for men, who tend to have more resilient ligaments and stronger muscles. This sure seems to be the case. Lindsey is not nearly the only woman whose recent injuries might cost her her Olympic dreams. Here are some other sad stories. Keep reading »
