BRB Going To Atlanta: Frozen Pints Offers Pumpkin Ale Ice Cream Made From Craft Beer

Pardon me while I peace out of this joint and hop a flight to Georgia. Just in time for the holidays, an Atlanta-based business called “Frozen Pints,” which creates one-of-a-kind craft beer ice cream (complete with an alcohol content!), has whipped up their newest flavor: Pumpkin Ale Ice Cream. You know what this means, don’t you? If you’re lucky enough to live near Georgia, this year’s Thanksgiving dessert can make you tipsy and your family more tolerable to be around.  Keep reading »

This Time Lapse Video Of Melting Ice Cream Is Strangely Mesmerizing

This Time Lapse Video Of Melting Ice Cream Is Strangely Mesmerizing
Mint Chocolate Chip, Please

I never thought I’d use the word “pretty” to describe the disappointing pile of mush you end up with when an ice cream cone melts, but this video makes dessert look like art. The first scoop of ice cream in the film looks like it’s covered in glitter, so now I’m hellbent on finding glitter-covered ice cream here in New York — it has to exist somewhere, right? Frisky Eats: Make Your Own Ice Cream Sandwiches!

Once upon a time, I worked in an ice cream parlor called Scoops. On slow summer days, we would create ice cream sandwiches out of any and everything in the store. Homemade chocolate chip cookies with moose tracks ice cream dipped in fudge? Yes, please. What about lemon poppy pound cake with a cool layer of vanilla bean ice cream and rainbow sprinkles? Amen! We never sold these creations, but I can assure you, they were tasty. Try one of these scrumptious ice cream sandwich recipes or grab your favorite sweets and get creative!

RIP Society: This Ice Cream Sundae Costs $25,000

TablehoppingNY just released a list of  the most expensive dishes in New York City and I am honestly disturbed that anyone would pay $25,000 for an ice cream sundae. Like a twisted version of the glow-in-the-dark figurine at the bottom of your Frosted Fruit Loops, the $25K sundae at Serendipity 3 sits on top of a sticky 18-karat gold and diamond bracelet. All I can say is, for $25,000, this sundae better turn your shit gold. [TablehoppingNY]

RIP Society: Woman Calls Emergency Services Over Ice Cream Sprinkles

Sprinkles Are Not A Crisis

A woman in West Midlands, England, called 999 (Britain’s emergency call service) because of ice cream sprinkles. In the middle of an argument with the guy who’d just sold her an ice cream cone, she called police in a huff and detailed how he refused to put sprinkles on both sides. Um. Desserts are an emergency, okay? She insisted to the operator that ”it doesn’t seem like much of an emergency but it is a little bit.” After all, the ice cream man had “put bits on one side and none on the other.” Okay, so this is kind of hilarious (especially the recording), but wasting minutes of emergency responders’ time leaves people with real, non-dessert-related emergencies waiting longer for assistance. That said, I totally can’t help but laugh about this one. [Telegraph UK]
