I Wanna Dress Like: Karen O

Most of the time, Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O looks bats**t crazy. But in, like, a really, really good way. From her unitards to the omnipresent face paint and chameleon-esque tendency to go from white-faced geisha type one day to David Bowie look-alike the next, we’re in love. If you’re looking to cop her crazy style, we’ve got a few ideas for you.

I Wanna Dress Like: Brad Goreski From “The Rachel Zoe Project”

Dress Like Brad Goreski

I’ve expressed my love of Taylor Jacobson, one of Rachel Zoe’s styling associates who is often called “crabby” by people who don’t understand her deep personality. But I’m not choosing sides in the Taylor-Brad debate because Brad Goreski is just as lovable in his own way. And the fact that Brad’s a guy doesn’t mean I can’t cop his style: We already have a love of plaid and bow ties in common!

I Wanna Dress Like: Women Shot By The Sartorialist

The Sartorialist Fashion

The Sartorialist, aka Scott Schuman, has shot some of the most stylish people on the planet. His self-titled book was published Tuesday. We can’t get enough of his portraits. To help celebrate, we got inspired by the ladies The Sartorialist has shot.

I Wanna Dress Like: Joan Holloway On “Mad Men”

Christina Hendricks as Joan Holloway

Remember when the boys of Sterling Cooper were working on the Maidenform account, and they pointed to each woman in the office and declared her a “Jackie Kennedy” or a “Marilyn Monroe”? You didn’t have to be Joan Holloway, head of the secretarial pool, to appreciate their conclusion: “Joan is a Marilyn. No! Marilyn is a Joan.”

Joan, like any bombshell who knows her stuff, lets her curves do the talkin’. Therefore, her office look is simple: a figure-hugging dress, a little red lipstick, and jewelry that draws attention to her assets. Click through our slideshow to get the jaw-dropping look that has all the men on “Mad Men” wrapped around Joan’s little finger.

I Wanna Dress Like: Peggy Olson From “Mad Men”

Peggy Olson Mad Men Style

Joan Holloway is the style idol most women talk about about when it comes to the fabulous clothes in “Mad Men.” But not all of us can be Joans, can we? Even though she has those awkward-looking bangs, Peggy Olson‘s wardrobe has progressed as quickly as her career at Sterling Cooper has. Sure, she’s still got that whole innocent-librarian thing going on, but Peggy has finally started dressing like the woman she is. Click through for dresses with nipped waistlines, A-line skirts, tie-neck blouses, and sleeveless jackets that’ll get you that promotion in no time.

I Wanna Dress Like: Nancy Drew

Nancy Drew Style

Nancy Drew is beloved to me and, um, just about every other girl in America. Even before I could drive (or cross busy streets unaccompanied), I dreamt of driving around in a blue roadster solving mysteries and wearing classy, Katharine Hepburn-esque getups like the ones Nancy wore on the series’ illustrated covers. More than a decade later, this is still my dream. If you share this lofty ambition as well, check out our Nancy Drew style guide.

I Wanna Dress Like: Jem And The Holograms

Jem and the Holograms Fashion

Jem” was one of our favorite cartoons growing up because each character had distinct fashion styles and wicked hair. Now that we’re old enough to wear outfits inspired by the “Jem” characters (we weren’t wearing miniskirts and heels back in elementary school), we’ve decided to relive our childhood.

I Wanna Dress Like: Public Enemies

Public Enemies Fashions

Johnny Depp as John Dillinger in “Public Enemies” says he likes good clothes and movies, among other things. And so do we. We’re not only excited to see this historical drama about the infamous bank robber, but we also want to dress in ‘30s style outfits. Gloves, longer hems, and the return of the natural waist were key to the fashions of that decade. We couldn’t raid the costume closet of Marion Cotillard, who plays Dillinger’s love interest Billie Frechette, so we came up with our own outfits inspired by “the movie.”

I Wanna Dress Like: Diana Ross

Diana Ross Fashions

Diana Ross has been a fashion force since she was the lead singer of the Supremes and starred in the classic “Mahogany.”. Since we can’t raid Ms. Ross’ closet, like her daughters Tracee Ellis Ross and Chudney Ross, we created our own outfits based on her red carpet looks. Obviously, you’ll need to pair them with super-voluminous hair.

I Wanna Dress Like: Naomi Harper From “Mama’s Family”

Off-The-Shoulder Dresses

Mrs. Thelma “Mama” Crowley Harper may have gotten all the laughs on “Mama’s Family,” but her daughter-in-law Naomi Oates Harper (played by Dorothy Lyman) had all the style.

I Wanna Dress Like: Jodie Foster In “Taxi Driver”

Jodie Foster Taxi Driver Fashion Inspiration

Most women don’t want to dress like a 14-year-old prostitute from the ‘70s, but Jodie Foster’s look as Iris Steensma in “Taxi Driver” is rather tame and stylish by today’s standards. We’d never condone crop tops, but we love her high-waist short shorts, platform sandals, and big floppy hat. These three outfits totally fit in with the season’s trends and will look effortless on a hot day.

I Wanna Dress Like: The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O

Get Karen O's Style

They’re back! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their highly anticipated new album, It’s Blitz!  While critics are calling it their grown up record, the band’s style is still tailored to their punk rock roots. With the help of her designer, Christian Joy, charismatic front woman Karen O has traded in her traditional glitter lamé get ups, and now she’s strutting around in studded leather. But you don’t have to bust out your old BeDazzaler to get her ensemble from the “Zero” video.  Here’s how to rock your look like K-O!

I Wanna Dress Like: The Morton Salt Umbrella Girl

Morton Salt Umbrella Girl

Fashion inspiration can come at the strangest of times, like when you’re reaching for a container of salt in your cupboard. The Morton Salt Umbrella Girl has been around since 1914, however her outfit got considerably cuter in 1968. With her flowy shirt dress, mary jane flats, and, most importantly, adorable bobbed hair, the Umbrella Girl is perfectly dressed for spring. I want to be her so badly I even cut my hair off so it looks like hers, only with bangs. Too bad mine doesn’t look as good as hers does when it’s pouring.

I Wanna Dress Like: “Carmen Jones”

Dorothy Dandridge As Carmen Jones

Carmen Jones” is one of my favorite films because the title character, played by Dorothy Dandridge, has impeccable style and great one-liners. Carmen wore this saucy and sexy outfit for much of the first half of the movie as she rebelled against conventional norms. Her look was rather simple, just a pencil skirt and off-the-shoulder blouse, but her accessories make it much more interesting. Now all you need is the right attitude and walk.

I Wanna Dress Like: “The Breakfast Club”

The Breakfast Club movie still

Well I don’t want to dress like all the characters from this classic from 1985, just Claire Standish (Molly Ringwald) and Allison Reynolds (Ally Sheedy).  They both have such distinct looks, yet their style can be reinterpreted for today.
